Playing CD Audio on XP combo drive
« on: 17 Jun '03 - 08:23 »
I am unable to play a CD-Audio from a combo drive on a notebook running XP home edition (Note the *.cda are playing just fine when using Windows Media Player).

Does there is any parameter that must be turned on?

(I am still using BASS.DLL version 1.7)

Thank you

By "combo drive", I guess you mean a CD/DVD combo? That shouldn't really affect things. Does specifying the drive letter (eg. "D:") in the BASS_CDInit call help?

Also, when you check in Media Player, make sure "Digital playback" is disabled to make it a like-for-like test.

Ian,

Yes, cd/dvd combo.

It seems that this occured with laptops allowing to play CD-Audio even when the OS/computer itself is not running.

What if "Digital Playback" is disabled?
Would they still be able to use the cd-player alone?

Thank you.

Yes. The "cd-player alone" won't be affected by a software option... "Digital playback" is where the software (eg. Media Player) reads the data from the CD to play it.

Anyway, did you try specifying the drive letter? :)
