XMPlay Speex plugin
« on: 6 Mar '05 - 20:25 »
 Sebastian Andersson finished a Speex input plugin for XMPlay which is available here:

     http://www.un4seen.com/filez/2/xmp-spx.zip

It should support all the usual stuff like playing, pausing, seeking, ReplayGain, tags... but currently lacks the streaming support. Please report any bugs and issues in this thread.

By the way, you will need the latest version of XMPlay (3.2.0.3) for this plugin to work!

While we're (sort of) on the subject... Has anyone actually used this encoder? It it worth using? I have a few book-readings on CD as well as a few George Carlin CDs and was wondering if it was worth my time (and hard drive space) to rip them with this one, since it was designed for spoken-word.

I use it to encode my audio books and it suits my needs right.

@Zarggg

If your files are pure speech and you really want to save diskspace, it should be right on the noodle...

An update is available for xmp-spx. The update includes a few enhancements and some optimizations.

Hi!

I'm really interested in using this codec, but was wondering if there'll be an update to the plugin soon. Is it being worked on at all? I ask because the last post is from quite a while back.

Thanks!
