Editing metadata of music files
« on: 23 Aug '22 - 21:17 »
Hello there  :)

I could not gather plenty of up-to-date Information about how to get and edit metadata of music files, like artist,  Album,  track title or even Cover arts.

So my question is:

Is bass.dll able to get and edit metadata of music files and which formats,  like mp3,  wav,  opus,  flac,  wma and so on,  does it support? Which class can I use?

I've read somewhere that it is able to get ID3 tags of mp3 files,  but that it is restricted in some way... But I guess this is not up-to-date...

Look at Tags extension for BASS. Lightweight library.

There's also a BassTags library that was pinned in the forum I think... not there anymore, not sure what happened to it? Can't find it. That library had a bunch of dependencies.

Have a look at 3DLITE's Tags Library:

https://www.3delite.hu/Object%20Pascal%20Developer%20Resources/TagsLibrary.html

It's free to use on freeware programs, comes with well documented source code, and the API is calling-language independent. Windows only, as far as I know... I've used it for a couple of years and it works as expected (or even better). It supports all the major tags formats and containers. The developer can be contacted here at Un4seen and he's responsive.
