ello :-)

Does anyone know where I can find an easy to use encoder that can convert an mp3 to mo3? I need it so I can have any music I want playing while playing while I play a favorite game of mine.  I tried just using winamp, but it blots out the game's sound effects which can be deadly if I don't notice an enemy firing

Thanx in advance :-)

P.S.
"hit alt+s to submit/post or alt+p to preview" doesn't work in Opera

There is no converter. Although it's technically possible to "convert" mp3 to mo3, in most cases it's just plain pointless. Now, if you rendered your mp3 to a wav, you could load it as an instrument in a piece of software called tracker. You would continue by writing down a (musical) note which corresponds to the correct pitch of the wav, or actually two, one for the left audio channel, the other for the right. Then you would have to approximate the lenght and speed of this module you're making according to the length of the sample. Only then you'd have yourself a music module, which could be easily converted to mo3. This file is roughly the size of the wav you rendered earlier. To make it an mo3 and small again, the samples in the module are encoded to MP3, Ogg Vorbis or Lossless. Notice that mo3 files are decompressed fully before playing so in your case this means decoding the whole length of your music every time the music is loaded (ie. start of a level etc..)

What game are you playing that can use MO3 as a music input, but not MP3? Sounds like you should be talking to the makers of the game instead. ;)

And for the record: The reason Alt-S and Alt-P don't work in Opera is Opera's fault, not the board's. SMF uses the "accesskey" HTML attribute for the buttons, which Opera does not recognize.

I would think a small one that uses tracked music by default, and BASSMOD instead of full BASS. But then again, does BASSMOD decode MO3?

Not that I'm aware of. That's why his dilemma confuses me.

he's trying to run music in background while he's playing a game, i guess... you can use winamp as well as xmplay for that, just set the volume to 10% (not the windows waveout, but the program volume slider!). don't see why you should have mo3 for that, sounds is still the same :-\

Ahh, but if he's in a 9x environment, he can't have two proggies using waveOut at once.

And even if that was the case, it wouldn't make a difference what file format he was using.
