Developments / XMPlay / Re: Problem with getting sound from secondary/back speakers

I too have an audigy, and I might know what's happening (I think): in the creative control panel there are 2 options, CMMS3D 1 or 2 (not too sure about the acronym ). If one of those are enabled, and you have set the correct speakers count in windows, you'll get sound from all speakers even from mono audio source.

Have you tried the right click on the "Open / Add file(s)" button? If I understand the thing you want, it opens a window where you can use to choose a directory and play itss content.

Well, I did try, but had different results. If the zipped file is a module, it remains in memory/the archive isn't locked and I can remove the key; If the zipped file is a mp3/something else, even if it's smaller than the read-ahead limit tthe archive is locked (I suppose) and I can't unplug, even if I set the track to be looped eternally... So I was asking for more info, expecially wanting to do so (unplug the key whileit's still playing the cached file). I do know that if I'll skip to the next song all files in playlist will be marked as dead, but that's no issue.

Yet another question on readahead. If a file is fully buffered on load from a usb key (say a .mp3) and looped (always looped), does xmplay still prevents the usb key to be unplugged?

Does the read ahead thing apply o archives too? I mean, I have a zip with say 5 .mp3 track in it, and I drag it on xmplay: does the first file gets full buffering (so if it's looped the zip file won't be read till you press next)?

mmm, I changed to the "microsoft sound mapper" (no wave out named out device), and then switched bach to thwe old setting. The issue disappeared. and I didn't change anything else. The device is Realteck HD Audio Output. CPU is 20/25% with stereo emulation and surround. I don't know what it was, but I'm pretty happy now

normal quality + SSE2 = plays ok, ~15% CPU [SID_27] config=001530FF7F005000002C018813B80B
high quality = slows down the OS * [SID_27] config=101520FF7F005000002C018813B80B
high quality + SSE2 = the OS stops responding [SID_27] config=101530FF7F005000002C018813B80B
* I used to play this tune on this same machine some revisions ago. On my home machine no issues, but it has a bigger cpu.

setting high quality + SSE2 both enabled on a winxp sp3, with AMD Athlon 64 3500+, which supports SSE2, slows down the whole os, while playing the tune randy-illusion.sid (hvsc.perff.dk/MUSICIANS/R/Randy/Illusion.sid). Any idea? that CPU should cope with that tune...

Developments / XMPlay / Re: xmplay keeps crashing

well, it happened to me too, and more than a crash, it just quits. But lucky me, I found that disabling some filetypes helps (option ands stuff, playlist, ignore filetypes). In my case it was the hidden .db filetype that was causing the issue, that made xmpla close itself upon trying to load a directory, and obviously I couldn't actually see the .db file since it wasn't even counted as hidden (I discovered it keeping the playlist opened). now, if it's the case for you too, just disable filetypes that might interfere (.db, .jpg, .txt, ...). hope it helps.

mmm, I don't know if it's stuff to be posted in the bugs thread, so here it is. when I try to load the attached pls, XMPLAYquits. No errors, it just dies. No lingering Process. I suppose it does it when some streams are unavailable, since if I load the single http link it does the same. Is it possible to check this? Thanks. edit: attached file "hardfm-fearfm(hard-harder-hardest)" for real. also, this stream ( http://95.211.80.70:7000) does the same. strange. I'm not a stream user (I wasn't), but it seemed to work in the past. faulty streams? mmm
