1  Developments / XMPlay / Re: 3.6 reports, queries and bugs on: 23 Dec '11 - 17:30
Yes, it does seem to be related to short filenames. XMPlay will pass a short filename to a non-Unicode Winamp plugin (like in_vgmstream) if there are any non-ASCII characters in the filename, to allow the plugin to open the file. There aren't any non-ASCII characters in your example filenames, but I guess you have some in the path?

Yes, indeed.

The update works. Thanks you very much. Smiley

Uploaded stm_bgm_ev_last.isd (fails) and stm_bgm_ev_last2.isd (degraded) as well as their matching .ish files.

in_vgmstream:
http://hcs64.com/files/vgmstream/vgmstream-r970-test.zip
http://hcs64.com/files/vgmstream_external_dlls.zip

"stuff" versions ran fine in the past. It probably changed during the last month or two, but I can't pinpoint it exactly.

The files are in a directory with a lot of similarly named .ish and .isd files, all beginning with stm_bgm_. Maybe the files fail to play now because corresponding .ish and .isd files do not share the same short file name? They map as follows here:

STEC82~1.ISH stm_bgm_ev_last.ish
STEC82~1.ISD (missing)
ST0908~1.ISH (missing)
ST0908~1.ISD stm_bgm_ev_last.isd
ST3C9B~1.ISH stm_bgm_ev_last2.ish
ST3C9B~1.ISD (missing)
STB9FE~1.ISH stm_bgm_B_rugia.ish
STB9FE~1.ISD stm_bgm_ev_last2.isd

Maybe this explains why stm_bgm_ev_last2.isd plays (mismatched ISH causes degraded quality) but stm_bgm_ev_last.isd won't (missing ISH).

The "stuff" version now seems to have a problem with the in_vgmstream plugin I'm using - it now fails to play many files (getting reported as dead) and has degraded quality for others.

3.6.0.1 works fine.

When using the default output (waveout), the balance control seems to act as a second volume control - <100 to center is full volume, 100> is silence.

I assume this is because Windows 7 only provides a mono volume control for the stream, which XMPlay doesn't expect and believes it to be the left channel volume.

PulseAudio used to have the same problem, see this patch: http://cgit.freedesktop.org/pulseaudio/pulseaudio/commit/?id=ed0e879cd999750d06e189953319786e5178cf27
The WAVEOUTCAPS seem to lack WAVECAPS_LRVOLUME on Win7 (and Vista?).

I did include the DEF in the project.

Your project works, thank you.

Pretty much. I've also tried adding __declspec(dllexport) to the GetInterface function.

Having the same problem. VS 2010 creates a xmp-flange.dll that doesn't seem to get loaded by XMPlay.

I have lots of game rips in various esoteric formats, some tagless and with hexadecimal numbers in their file names.

Numeric sorting for hexadecimal numbers?

Win32, actually. There's a Windows build of pulseaudio, its libraries and headers (the "zipfile containing preview binaries").

Would this be possible? It's something I'd like to see, allowing output over the network.

I think you have this backwards.

For some people the glass is half-empty, for others it's half-full. Tongue

I think it may be possible to include a vis area in the main panel. I'll look into it. Of course, it will delay 3.5 for another 6 months though Grin

I thought you didn't want to release without proper i18n+l10n, anyway.

Open the XMPlay settings and change the output device back to your sound card.

After adding a directory to the playlist, XMPlay seems to think the entire playlist is sorted by filename. So if trying to sort by filename, XMPlay will do nothing.

Only after modifying the playlist order (e.g. by moving an entry) will XMPlay allow sorting by filename.

it's late and i'm tired (-.-)

17  Developments / XMPlay / Directory traversal / Sorting on: 7 Feb '09 - 01:40
When adding directories, currently XMPlay seems to alphabetically scan the contents, descending into subdirectories when it finds them. Would it be possible to add an option to add all files from a directory first before descending into any subdirectories (i.e. folders are put behind files)? This option would then affect sorting by filename as well.

Running an X-Fi.

Multichannel output works properly using waveOut, DirectSound and WASAPI. ASIO only outputs front L and R (XMPlay reports 6 channels though... must be a driver issue).

I wonder why the option "Skip non-matching tracks" is only in the "Find track(s)" window and not in the preferences (it obviously affects list advancing). Especially now since it affects quick find, where you never see said window.

What about this?

And would it be possible to have some sort of priority control when multiple plugins register the same filetype?
