What is BASS_MPC?

BASS_MPC is a BASS add-on which enables playback of MusePack files.

What is MusePack?

MusePack is an audio compression format with a strong emphasis on high quality. It's not lossless, but it is designed for transparency, so that you won't be able to hear differences between the original wave file and the much smaller MPC file.

It is based on the MPEG-1 Layer-2 / MP2 algorithms, but has rapidly developed and vastly improved and is now at an advanced stage in which it contains heavily optimized and patentless code.

As I said before, this release is beta and I need feedback from the users to improve the add-on.

Yes, but there is no Delphi unit file available ATM. I would be grateful if someone translated one of the existing headers/modules (bass_ape.h and bass_ape.bas) to Delphi.

What is WavPack?

WavPack is a lossy/lossless audio format. The reason why WavPack is rather unique is, because it features a "hybrid" mode, which enables lossless playback of lossy files using a "correction" file. The correction files contains the audio data that was discarded when the file was encoded to lossy. As I mentioned before, WavPack also features lossless encoding, which means that no quality loss occurs during the encoding process. Visit http://www.wavpack.com/ to find out more about WavPack.
