When I switch between message and visuals when playing FLAC files, XMPlay sometimes crashes.

This happens when playing FLAC files with FLAC only tags.

Is anyone else experiencing this with FLAC files?

Everything else seems to work, except for some plugins, maybe (FLAC crashed several times, AFAIK).

I have only recently started playing FLAC files with XMPlay. And I have only recently seen XMPlay crash. I have had a few crashes since playing FLAC files.

I am using 3.4.2.49.

Actually, I found that the command was simply tag.

tag *.flac

or

tag filename.flac

What is a good way to identify what tags a file has?

Mp3tag did not detect that I still had ID3v1 tags.

Yeah the remove option of Mp3tag seems not really designed for FLAC files...
So I googled and came up with an application called Tag.

Most important is the switch --removeid3v2. Works fine (it's actually a very simple file operation). See the thread for more usages like handling all files recursive and so on.

OK. I found a method to remove ID3 tags that are with FLAC files.

When use Mp3tag to remove ID3 tags, it removes all tags including the FLAC tag. But if you choose Undo, it restores FLAC tags only. The only thing that I have noticed that isn't restored is the cover art. So you will need to restore that manually.

If anyone knows a better way, I would be interested.

EAC uses ID3 tags for basic tagging. But when I use Tag&Rename, to fully tag, it uses FLAC tags.

How do I get EAC to use FLAC tags? I cannot see it anywhere in options.

Or if I cannot get EAC to tag with FLAC tags, how can I now remove the ID3 tags from my FLAC files?

I used Tag&Rename. I just had a look at the tags with Mp3tag, and it can see them. Other players can also.

Unfortunately, it still doesn't work my FLAC files.

I cannot seem to get it to display album art with FLAC files. I have used the same tagger for both MP3 and FLAC files. The MP3 files display album art, but not FLAC.

Yes. I have suggested that throughout the years as well.

And also, how about that newfangled Gracenote DB thingy? I think Winamp 5.5 uses it for its auto-tagging system.

Yeah Gracenote is an awesome service. But Sony has recently bought it. More about it here and here.

I actually prefer lighter colours sush as pastels. So hopefully this kit will do this for me. 

On some of my tracks, I have noticed in the Info > Message window that my ID3v2 "Year" tag sits below my "Lyrics" tag.

With other tracks, the year sits between "Track" and "Genre". Is there a way for me to move the "Year" tag up so I can have it sitting in between "Track" and "Genre"?

I just think it looks better up with the other relevant info. 

Implement a play mode to automatically remove the track from the Playlist after it has been played, or if you press the "Next" button?
