1  Developments / XMPlay / Re: How to play .dcs + .wav files ? on: 5 May '13 - 09:50
Can the WAV-file be played by XMPlay? What's in the DCS-file, text and timings? Could you attach it here?

Xmplay can't start with this skin - I got "Cant load skin" message.
XMPlay does recognize it as a skin, but apparently it's missing something critical. I have no clue what the bare minimum is for a skin, but perhaps it's lacking a skinconfig.txt?

Yeah sure, what if you don't know where to add that if it is not in the resource directory?
If you specifically want to do it with Resource Hacker and not with XMPlay's own settings, you'll need help from Ian himself. In that case, your goal (using Resource Hacker) is also way off from this forum's intended goal (using XMPlay).

4  Developments / XMPlay / Re: XMPlay wrongly overwrites filetype associations when invoked with file on: 28 Apr '13 - 09:17
... I suppose I know what you're thinking when you ask for a screenshot Wink As you can see the option is working, all the section is disabled, and nothing was selected before (I did unselect all).
Yup Wink. At least we're sure XMPlay has no intention of modifying the registry.

I just manually made files be open by xmplay and customized icon as per type.
What method did you use for that?
Oh, actually it's just the filetype that becames the same, and keeps one icon/description, there are no context menu entries as far I see.
Do they turn into "XMPlay-able file", or into something else?

I have noreg=1 and on filetype set in config, I just manually made files be open by xmplay and customized icon as per type. The strange thing is that Xmplay still seems to have some control over the filetype, even if it should not.
This sound vaguely similar to this thread, right? Could you post a screenshot of your Integration page of Options and stuff?

Awesome! Grin It looks more like a vintage TV now Wink.

Do you have an error message or a crashlog?

... To hopefully get some clues on why it's crashing with XMPlay, please provide a "dump" file for the crash. You can have Windows generate dump files (in your user "AppData\Local\CrashDumps" directory) by applying this "localdumps-full" registry entry...
   www.un4seen.com/stuff/localdumps.zip
...
Once you have a dump file, you can upload it (compress it first as it could could be quite large) to have a look at here...
   ftp.un4seen.com/incoming/
You can use the "localdumps-off" registry file to disable the dump file generation afterwards.

9  Developments / XMPlay / Re: How to play .STR files ? on: 21 Apr '13 - 09:53
the .str files are a fileformat called 'Sega Stream'. These files can be seen for example on Dreamcast releases. I have seen that the BZR Player is able to play them, but when i tried with XMplay, the player crash and exit memory.
vgmstream claims to be able to play these files. Is that the one crashing with you?

10  Developments / XMPlay / Re: HTPC 10-foot user interface Large Skins on: 19 Apr '13 - 06:38
Does anybody have suggestions for other large skins or other tips to make XMPlay more functional on a 40" + screen?  Is there any way to make the main window longer?
The Main Window is not resizeable or zoomable, so skin authors have to manually scale up the skin. Neutron is a good one, the recent W.T.F. and NeverStop also have larger versions.

I'm sure it was but I made a backup on a wrong file at that time. My bad. Thanks for looking into it though.
You don't have xmplay.library~ anymore? It should be next to xmplay.library.

there's also no adaptation needed, there's already several 'button_pause.bmp' variations included in the zips
Ok, I'll give it a go. Thanks.

From the tone of your announcement, I guess you view this as a "win".
Hopefully it's a win for Rick, he needs the money! Wink

what's going on with people?, i mean psxgamer and now Xaos, where's the gratefulness, the respect?
Two people storming Castle Luck with a torch, but forgetting their pitchforks Wink.

.. as much as I tried to be clear, decent and reasonable and what.. ? .. I'm not allowed to state my disappointment and reason for it?
I don't mind you expressing your opinion at all, but in my opinion you haven't always been decent. It's tricky conveying emotions in just text, as the interpretation on both sides can be different, especially when from different cultures.
I shall stop participating and continue to use the excellent program that is XMPlay
Well, now that one can make a flashing multi-state pause button, I'd like to see one in action. Will you adapt W.T.F. with this button?

Is switching to mini-mode and back enough to trigger it? What skins does it happen with, also with the default skin? What video card do you have?
1) Nope, you should click somewhere at playlist zone; 2) LunaLamfam. Same thing hapens with iXMPlay & Windows Classic 2; 3) No. Actually, default skin doesn't show playlist on central panel so I can't reproduce bug the way I did in the video; 4) Radeon 3850 HD 512 MB by ASUS.
Ah, right, it's the output panel covering the playlist panel. Could you try adding Layered=1 to your xmplay.ini?

I'm unfortunately unable to reproduce the problem on my own system. What Windows do you have? Could you post a screenshot of your Integration page of Options and stuff? Does the icon change back to the previous one when you close XMPlay?

18  Developments / XMPlay / Re: more XMPlay ideas on: 31 Mar '13 - 11:37
How could this skinning be made future-proof?
It cannot, that's why it's not skinned. Obviously I cannot speak for Ian, but I believe that skinning options windows same way as main XMPlay window is skinned would require major changes in XMPlay and a lot of work from Ripguy to draw all this stuff. Not to mention the pain to update the bitmaps every time a new option is added or changed.
Well, changing the colours is probably doable, but changing the layout is pretty infeasible currently. I just takes PSXGamerPro1 about two days and some help to realize that. But he did, and that's what I was after Smiley.

You know when when you first start XMPlay it says "XMPlay" in the taskbar, but when you play a file it changes to the name or title of that file. I'm thinking of changing this to "%s - XMPlay".
Go to Options and stuff > Titles and append ' - XMPlay' to your formatting string.

19  Developments / XMPlay / Re: 3.7.0.27 mod on: 31 Mar '13 - 11:23
These problems remain I don't have C++ v6.0, I don't know the code to add this, And I don't know what section to rip the code out of it to add it to XMPlay.
Hows this. those checkboxes are useless.
Oh really? So you can't add any new features at all? Well, that certainly lowers the usefulness of this mod.

Could you at least tell us how to change the default skin and why one would like to change the default skin? And remember, answering 'because everybody has a favourite skin' is not good enough for me Wink.

20  Developments / XMPlay / Re: 3.7.0.27 mod on: 30 Mar '13 - 11:31
How and, most importantly, why?
The reason why is because everyone has a favorite skin and you can use it to make it a new Default skin.
I have a favourite skin too, and it's the only one I see when I start XMPlay. Why would I want to make it the default skin? And how do I make it the default skin?

I also started a Icon collection in the program itself for the file associations. So if you know of any good, nice, or otherwise neet icons email them to me.
Do you have perm... oh, you probably didn't ask, right. XMPlay file icon set by Cypress is a very nice one.

I know I should fix it. But how the function id for both of them is 0. ... Can anyone make a section to add to the executable that will get it it work and also tell me what to change the function id's to.
Currently, you're the only one modifying XMPlay, so I guess you should fix this yourself. I'd like to see Options and stuff respond to different skins colours, so when will you have that feature working?
