Hi Ian,

I uploaded file named wav24_report.7z. There is simple test program with source and 2 sample files in data folder. You can start compare_wav_flac.bat and then compare_wav_wav.bat to see the results. Internal buffers are then saved in data folder. Source file is test24.dpr.

If you'd like to have just the skin, you can get it from the Support Site: link.

The "X4W" Intiative is up, yet. Our idea is to extend the use of XMPlay through easy tools like this.
I can see how this could be useful, but why should it be "for women"? And what's it going to install, as it needs 19 MB? I'd suggest to create a separate thread for this, to let us help you optimize this package.

The "X4W" is based in the installercode of the very old "XMPlay Unlimited" Intiative. I need to learn more about how can I add a Ticker Box to ask the user for the file associations. Nothing is perfect. It's beta. Remember the "k" Update Cycle Promise.

Thanks for your comment, Jimmy. I'll fix the file associations ticker, I don't know how, but I'll do it. Smiley

(P.S.: X4W was the idea of a... woman).

I don't mean to tell you your business, but distributing a skin bundled as an EXE file is poor behavior indeed.  Further, that EXE can't have the parts extracted, so it must be run as is.  It informs the user that it will make registry changes forcing modifications to the default file associations (and what else?).  This is much worse behavior.

And you do this because your target audience is women and you are saying that they are probably too air-headed to know how to install a skin and *gasp* actually switch to use that new skin, so you have to do all that messy stuff for them.  How considerate you are about the poor women who are hampered by their disability!

You may believe that everyone has their own computer and is running as administrator all of the time.  That is not the case.  Although I own four computers, for security reasons I will not run as administrator and I refuse to run any PROGRAM that forces registry changes on me, let alone merely a SKIN.  And what if I wanted to use this skin at a school, library, or work where I had limited rights, or at a friend's house where I wouldn't want to make permanent changes to their system?

Heck, even XMPlay itself does not force file association changes, and does not require administrative rights to use.  Why should a skin?

Yep, BASS_ChannelSetPosition calls returns 57736896 for both. One, which is wrong, is WAV.

For FLAC:
Position = 163.653333333333
BASS_ChannelSeconds2Bytes = 57736896

For WAV:
Position = 163.653333333333
BASS_ChannelSeconds2Bytes = 57736896

Those numbers are the same, but resulting files are different by one frame.

Does BASS_ChannelGetPosition report 57736896 after both BASS_ChannelSetPosition calls? If so, which one of them is not actually at that position, when you compare to what is at sample 7217112 in the original WAV file?

The same file only 16bit wav/flac works the same in both cases.

I'm not a VB user myself, so I'm not certain about this, but I think you would use LoadResData to get the resource's data, which you can then pass to BASS_MusicLoad (with mem=BASSTRUE).
