Strange as this request may be, is it possible to add an option to put the player in the windows taskbar? I'm not talking about using system tray icons either, I'm talking about a tiny graphical interface planted on the windows task bar Smiley It'd be so neat!

Ian, this is getting silly about now. You've got to fix the randomness of random-change. It feels like it's based off of time-of-day or something. It always hits the same spot in my playlist around this time of night - the EVE Online tracks (10PM-midnight, tracks 18-92 out of a playlist nearing 1000) - and not even that, it's usually the same few tracks. Random again? Still within the same EVE tracks. It's annoying and I shouldn't have to shuffle this big playlist that I've already got the way I want to get new tracks on random-change.

Please, I'm now officially begging, make the roll closer to truly random.

(4:20 AM post ... of Satan! Paragraph(s) ... of death! Text of Hell!)

Welcome to the show, then, lu.

Seriously, if we're getting miffed about nitpicky stuff like this and not the audio quality, you can tell you've grabbed a good player with a community -  of which consists of a fair share of audio professionals - that appreciate it, have now completely and unapologetically taken the audio quality for granted and now choose to bitch about the program-usage/function/UI stuff.

So blame [thank] Ian! He's why we're so spoiled.  =]

Remindingly reopening older suggestions:

- If .cue file available, make it possible to show parts of that in title view (There are still plenty of %??'s for use!), maybe even add a choice of showing them as separate tracks in playlist.

- When there's a quick sudden error 'blip!' or 'blop!' in a song, the amp slider goes to -15dB. I remember someone suggesting that if the loud noise is short like that, it should move back to where it was before the blip.. I think that's a very good idea. Smiley

- For the clearness of use, away with the dozen++ tabs in Options and Stuff.. There are several better ways to do it. (All of which have been mentioned before and explained better than I can in this state of tiredness)

Shall add more when my thoughts run again! Grin

Ah.. Got an idea which makes sense, at least to me. Grin
Very trivial, but it would be nice if you could rename files within the playlist. So you wouldn't have to first find out what dir the file is you want to rename, and if XMP did the namechange, it could also update the entry directly to the playlist. Cheesy

Hi,

I have one wish: Being able to set "one instance of XMPlay only".

Well, has anyone wished to add support for additional mouse buttons? Right now I'm testing Logitech MediaPlay and it has Play/Pause, Next/Prev, VolUp/VolDn buttons, which work in WMP and MPC. But I cannot map them to key shortcuts, so I'm unable to use them with XMPlay. Maybe You can add support for scanning mouse buttons as like it is done with keyboard shortcuts?

I've never really liked the Logitech drivers. Then again, Microsoft appear to be going downhill with their IntelliMouse ones now (loss of bind-to-key and per-app bindings for buttons). Currently I use an older version (4.something) with the small thumb button bound to Ctrl+Alt+F8, which is random track for XMPlay (global shortcut).
I did look at the Logitech website, but it doesn't seem to be easy to get hold of the necessary APIs.

Ok, another suggestion for multi-monitor support:
It would be nice if XMPlay could not just remember it's position on non-primary screens but also allow placement independently of the resolution of the primary screen.

Example:

This is about my monitor setup. The problem is, that I can't place XMPlay on the right-hand monitor below the bottom line of the left-hand screen.

My setup is similar, except the screens are aligned at the bottom. There's a 'dead space' above monitor 2, which XMPlay will happily sit in.

Other gripes are that whenever I change skins or switch between mini and normal modes (or start XMPlay, for that matter), it will reposition itself to the primary screen if it was on the secondary one. I'm sure I've posted the necessary API functions to read the actual screen size.

Dragondrop to window does not clear current playlist.

Dragondrop to playlist adds /to the end/ of the playlist, not just dump it in the middle.

Does if you drop it anywhere other than the playlist.

Yep, but it also selects the newly added files so you can move them easily enough.

Improve playlist dragging. E.g. If I want to move a few files from the bottom of the playlist to somewhere nearer the top (we're talking 1000 or so files here), I should be able to drag the mouse to above the playlist and have it continue scrolling. Try dragging a file to a different folder that's above/below the visible area in explorer, and you'll see what I mean.

Hi all,
I'd like to request a "save state" option for XMplay. If you're familiar with video game emulation, you'll get the idea. It would allow you to save playlist & song position in say 1 to 5 "slots" which could be quickly pulled back up. I realize you can right-click close the program and do this (a previous suggestion!). But often i'll be listening to an hour-long mix or talk show, want to check out a new download then go back to where i was listening. With right-click close, often another family member will use the program and my track position is lost. Small problem i know, but it would be appreciated.

Nice one. I listen to interviews and talkshows, too and sometimes I just want to pause for a second and listen to some music. Usually I'll just remember the time and get it close, but it would be so much easier just to save it in a state and go back to exactly where I left it later.

Just a small request, please. I'd like to be able to select a sequential block of playlist entries (for instance, prior to removing them) by holding down Ctrl + Shift, selecting the first entry in the block and hitting the Page Down key as many times as needed.  At present it's only possible to select a block by selecting the first entry, holding down Ctrl, scrolling down the list using the mouse and then selecting the last entry, which doesn't work too well because mouse scrolling is so erratic in XMPlay. Or perhaps I've missed something? Many thanks.
