Isn't there a way for those info bubbles come up at all, when the player is out of focus, but not minimized to tray (I faintly remember there being some mention of it in the past)? Dotpitch: Nice work with compiling all the suggestions, but you missed the "auto-minimize" .

Here's an update that should at least display the tray title bubbles... www.un4seen.com/stuff/xmplay.exeI did try applying it to all info bubbles too, but it seemed a bit odd with them coming up in the tray even with XMPlay in full view (just not in focus).

Very nice, thank you I'd be fine with the other info bubbles coming up at the tray icon while the player is in full view though - the point being, that it's better that they at least come up somewhere to provide the information. By the way, while testing these, I noticed that when you tick "On top -> normal", the effect is immediate, which isn't convenient since the player will cover the options dialogue if they overlap. Oh, and for some reason, the player goes over the options dialogue even when unticking the checkbox. [edit]It seems like when some other application takes the focus on its own, all the info bubbles appear at the cursor, but not when the focus is changed by the user. I think it would be ideal, if the info bubbles appeared in both cases (it doesn't really matter to me whether it'd be at the tray icon or the cursor).

It's already possible with the CoverArt plugin to show a bitmap while playing an album. Very nice, but still a bit primitive because the plugin scans for the first image in the current directory and that's it. Now, one can add, for example with the app MP3tag editor, a bitmap to a single track. This is embedded in the tag of the file, not being an external source. Afaik this cannot be done with MP3, but with the OGG or FLAC format it works fine. It would be nice if XMPlay was able to read this data and present it as a visual option.

Read this post by yourself. xmp-coverart can already load coverart from MP4, MP3 and FLAC, as I said before. If multiple coverart images are present (internal/external/image folder), xmp-coverart uses this order.

Here's an update that I think works a bit better than my 1st attempt... www.un4seen.com/stuff/xmplay.exeWhen XMPlay is in the tray and not in focus, hovering over a control should still result in the usual info bubble, while a global shortcut action (that displays an info bubble) should result in a tray bubble instead. By the way, while testing these, I noticed that when you tick "On top -> normal", the effect is immediate, which isn't convenient since the player will cover the options dialogue if they overlap. Oh, and for some reason, the player goes over the options dialogue even when unticking the checkbox.
The update above should fix that. Let me know if it's still funky.
The info bubbles should always appear at the cursor (when not in the tray), but they might not be visible if another window is covering them (ie. above XMPlay in the z-order). Does that explain what you're (not) seeing, or are the bubbles not being shown at all?

I noticed that the titles don't fade out in the fullscreen vis as before. Otherwise a good little implementation

It's been a while since I've requested anything. I remember requesting unicode support on .cue files, which to my pleasant surprise was very promptly supported in 3.5. Ever since, I haven't touched much in my XMplay, until recently, when I had to reorganize the libraries and some new music folders. I've only upgraded XMplay three times: 2.6, 3.0.0.0, 3.5.0.0. and 3.5.1.4 the most recent upgrade. I remember when I got 3.0 I was like WOW a new version? You always keep bringing good stuff. I never thought it was still being developed.
Now that said, I do have over 20k entries in my lists and library, and just started realizing that something very crucial had changed since 3.4. I usually navigate quickly through the playlist (one click would take me there), clicking on the appropriate positions to edit the playlist, and I was shocked and irked to find that the SCROLLBAR rectangle now works like windows's scrollbar. It serves its purpose and I live with it, but I do think it sucks.
So one complaint about the new scrollbar: I found out unpleasantly that now I have to click two buttons at the same time on xmplay to do what before took one quick click. That's not the problem. If I get the order of the clicks wrong, It jumps back and forth to the currently playing song, back and forth. This is what ultimately makes this a deal breaker. I can understand if there were a middle click to scroll like the olden days, but removing the old behavior completely makes me want to cry.
TL;DR, I plead you: please bring the old scrollbar back! (or at least an option to make it behave like it had always been) Actually, for those who like the new scroll behavior, I can take a compromise. If the old scrolling behavior can be assigned to a single middle click, I'll be happy. Thanks Ian!

When playing full albums as one tracks with cue sheets I sometimes forget after a while it is made of subsongs. I intuitively left click on the next button thus skipping a few subsongs jumping to the next track in the track list.
Is it possible to set the mouse left click on the previous/next buttons to operate on both subsongs and tracks. When left clicking next on a file with subsongs it will go the the next subsong. If it is the last subsong it will move on to the next track in the playlist.
Are there any benefits to current way of navigation with right clicks (maybe for mod files) ?

Your idea is good for the current cuesheet handling, but this will become obsolete when(/if?) files with cues can be expanded into individual tracks. A temporary solution?

I think the current way, with one left click for the next song, or right click for next subsong is good. It helps differentiate next file from next song. However, your idea would be good if when doing so it would also randomize the subsongs with the rest of the files. Kind of like an optional song/subsong behavior in preferences.

Suggestions for XMPlay 3.6Requested: ... - Native tag writing, with rating tags
... More major or minor feature requests? Post them in this thread! - If I want tag writing functions, I'd better use software designed-for-that-work. Example: Mp3tag,... - It makes XMPlay bloater -10 for "Native tag writing, with rating tags"[/list]

- If I want tag writing functions, I'd better use software designed-for-that-work. Example: Mp3tag Mp3tag does not do its intended work properly. And which scenario is more bloated; give XMPlay native tag editing, a feature that would be invisible to those who do not wish to use it, or force music fans to have two programs for managing and playing their music? Take your pick, it will be bloat either way, but one scenario is more convenient for the end user. The only tag program I've found that is competent is the command-line tool Tag. Everything else I've found does not offer the freedom one would expect with a freeform tag format like APE or vorbis comments.

Considering that Mp3tag is one of the recognized standards for tagging, on what basis do you make that argument?

This discussion is not really related to XMPlay 3.6 suggestions, but okay.
Forcing a standard on a freeform tagging format is ridiculous, simply put. The user should have full control. I want my tags to be written in certain order, and the header field to be with only first letter as uppercase. Does Mp3tag allow this? Not that I can see. It butchers the order of tags and whatever tag I edit its header will be all uppercase. Do I have the option to change this behavior? Not that I could find. I guess the name "Mp3"tag should have sounded the alarms in my mind, but in any case I decided to waste my time trying it out.
What is the point of freeform tagging if the software that enables us to edit them forces standards when the actual format does not? It makes no sense to me. Thankfully Tag is a gem, but unfortunately a rare one. I try to avoid typos and improper tagging while encoding the file, but it isn't bulletproof.

MP3Tag is the best tagging program out there. Please don't make such nice player to be the classic bloatware! For example... I see "tempo control" is accepted as a wish for next release and I'm asking who the hell is one that wants to DJ with XMPlay when there are so much better alternatives. And then, there are requests for native effects? That should be only in a for of plug-in. Player is player, not a tagging tool, not a DJ tool, not a production tool.
