Shortcut keys to some "obscure" right click commands. (e.g. 'Remove all' in the (extended) playlist)

Assign 'List nav - Select all' and 'List track - Remove' to the same key.

Is it possible to have the context menu "Locate in library" and "select all matching"  behave the same way as "List nav - Find quick"?

There are some other ways to integrate actions in the context menu (look at WMP for example), but I have no clue how they work. Perhaps it's easiest to add a character to the 'Open with XMPlay'-string, like '_Open with XMPlay'. You can do this in Explorer > Tools > Folder options > File types (XP) or with ExtMan or regedit (Vista/7).

reading the suggestions that dotpitch kindly compiled in a nice formatted list i see the album art suggestion ... so

I had some toughts/ideas about it and i think this would be real cool for the new coming 3.6 xmp version

* a new 'auxliary panel' would do the work with a fixed size because i believe most of the skins if not all of them have their
  visualization too small for something like this album/art cool feature also i suppose there'd be no reason to make it adjustable
  for the visualization thing because we already have the visualization feature in the extended window wich is resizable,
  besides with a fixed size say something like 200px x 200px better skining would be posible a pixel perfect design.

* also it'd be nice to have an option in the skinconfig.txt for this possible new feature (i hope so) so we'd be able to make it
  an independent/float window to place it anywhere on the screen or to make it a part of the main gui

Hmm... I think there might be some use for a separate panel for album art/visualizations (or just being able to have any of the info screens in their own windows), but I don't see why it shouldn't be resizable too.

I think the point about having the album art in the main player view, was mainly to be able to see it easily, without having to switch between different views, and a separate window doesn't fully comply with this. Anyway, If such a window was to be implemented, I don't think there's any need to limit its resizing.

Please have mercy for those with glasses - it would be nice if the fontsize in the external playlist windows would be a bit increased, for the other info bubbles you can also choose big fonts or bigger.. or whatever.

Is technical info of tracks stored? If so , is it possible to allow a column of sample rate in the library?

Part of the files I have is of higher quality - 24bit/96000hz.  Locating them turned out to be quite difficult.

The default playback device is not automatically set to the Windows setting at XMPlay startup.  This could be an option (and also retain the same Output plugin).  Manually changing back after a specific use with a different device is an annoyance.

If not, that would be my request. It makes more sense that ''open..'' comes first because generally speaking more folders/files are opened than added.

Here's an update in which the "Open with XMPlay" option should come before the "Add to XMPlay-library/list" options in the folder context menu (should already be the case with files)...

It is achieved by changing the registry entry from "XMPlay.Open" to "XMPlay.0pen" (with a number 0). The update should automatically rename existing registry entries, but let me know if you encounter any problems with it, eg. duplicate context menu entries.

Would it help to mark them to 'Skip'? Then they wouldn't show up in normal play, but you can still play 'em by doubleclicking.

Yeah, that would do the trick, but I often have those radio urls scattered around the list, and the point was to make that skipping automatic by recognizing them as such.

And what if 'List nav - Select same path' were to select all URLs? Though perhaps it'd be better to have a 'List nav - Select same length', as that would cover all playlist entries on infinite length, right?

No, I'm afraid that info isn't currently stored. All that is stored is what you see in the library and "Track info" window

That's a clever way! Though that still is no guarantee to select just radio streams, as files can be played off of a HTTP server as well.

Also -  it is possible to add to all radio streams a special 'Radio' genre tag  by the override option in track info window.

Searching non radio tracks then becomes easy and 'skipping non matches' will leave them out of your playing list.

I tried this but indeed I get duplicate context menu entries when ticking ''Folders'' in Options>Integration. This is with the previous version as well as with this release. In my case it's maybe because I changed the registry entries manually so it might help if someone tried who has an untouched registry.

Yep, if you added your own registry entries (or renamed XMPlay's entries), then you would need to manually remove them yourself as XMPlay will only rename the entry that it added ("XMPlay.Open"). Let me know if the duplicates remain even after doing that.

The issue (in both cases) is that each filetype would need its own registry branch with its own copy of the necessary info, rather than sharing a single "XMPlay" branch as they do now. The single registry branch allows XMPlay to apply any changes in one place and have them apply to all filetypes associated with XMPlay. Those changes could be to the icon or the "Add to XMPlay-list/library" options, but also, if XMPlay is moved to another location, XMPlay automatically updates the registry to point to its new location so that Windows still knows where to find it. If the filetypes had their own registry entries, the changes would need to be applied to each of them individually. Not impossible, but requiring more effort

If the problem is that you can't tell the filetype in Explorer when you have "Hide extensions for known file types" enabled, here's an update with an option to override that for "XMPlay-able" files...

If I remember correctly the 'limit according to peak level' option is used only when replaygain album/track is chosen. It would be nice though if it was used also without normalizing the playback volume. This way the tracks' original loudness and dynamics would retain . Only when a track is clipping the volume would be adjusted , but just as little as needed to avoid the clipping.

Sounds like it. The "peak level" he's referring to only has any meaning within the context of ReplayGain.

I am not sure about technical terms. Compressors I think are dsp processes that scan constantly the loudness of playback and adjust it accordingly (similar to auto amp or adaptive limiter).

There is quite some difference between the three methods you just mentioned. You're looking for a limiter, which does something like a temporal reduction in volume around a peak.

What I said wasn't a request but an advise how to achieve what SmartOne wanted. You only have to exit XMPlay with the playlist in the state you want it, locate xmplay.pls and set it to Read-only in the file properties.

When it is beside the main player it should dock to it.
so when the main player is moved the playlist should move to.
