The latter is already possible (at least in the stuff versions). There's [ ] Move info window with main in Appearance options.

Well, that was already there when I started using XMPlay, so it should be in the official 3.5 release as well. :)

For me, XMPlay is best player for maaany years now. And my suggestion for 3.6 is to not make id bloatware. Do not add many functions that will need more RAM, HDD Space. Leave XMPlay executable at ~300KB :) Leave little, free, and stable thing, that just play music, because it is best option. Thank You all developers for all work on this beautiful player, that is still best :)

In the find tracks window searching in tags + filenames + titles is not possible currently. Is there a reason for that?

Why do you say that? As I see it, tags and titles are the same thing. I always kept it to "titles & files" and always found what I searched for (no matter where the string was found: filename or tags). What more is there to search? :)

You are actually right:titles are the same as tags. What is really needed is searching in 'tags+filenames' - if instead of the titles/tags or in addition. Titles make limited use (at my formatting) of tags : no genre , year , comment. If I need to search any of these I need to search titles/tags. If I need to search location on the drive/network I need to search in filenames.

I usually search using the "find quick" tooltip. Having to switch between these options kind of negates the "quick" statement.

The "titles & files" option does include tags, ie. it's a combination of the "titles/tags" and "filenames" options. The text was just shortened to fit in the box :)

Oh! That is good to know ;) thanks

A small thing: I noticed some local track locations use the term 'localhost' while other use 127.0.0.1 address. Is it possible that in search  procedure  xmplay will "understand" and include 127.0.0.1 tracks with localhost searches (and vice versa)?

Ian @ un4seen

No, I'm afraid XMPlay ain't that clever, but if there aren't too many of them, you could edit the entries as you want via the "Track Info" window.

Regarding visualizations in full screen mode, is there a way the fps could be tweaked without the loss of quality of the graphics? I found some of the visualizations to run a bit choppy in full screen, regardless of the quality of the video card being used.

Also, could it be possible to implement the "Copy selected to clipboard" when you right click a track in the playlist or library as in AIMP2? That would be a useful tool.

Cheers!

Chinese Sausage

I would like to see a better CD Audio integration within XMPlay. I.E. having an option like "Open CD". It would be much practical than to have to open it as a folder, or add the tracks manually.

Thank you in advance.  :)

If I recall correctly, you can drag files out of XMPlay to copy them (left+right mouse button).

What about a sleep mode? One that will play your music until a certain time and then put your computer to sleep?

saga

Why would that be XMPlay's job to do? If Windows can't do it, there are already many such timer applications available.

Pike84

Why should it not be XMPlay's job? I wouldn't consider a small feature like that bloat or anything, so why not? :)

saga

Putting Windows into suspend mode is actually a feature which I consider not part of XMPlay tasks, so no.

It is actually a very good idea. Several players have this feature, including AIMP2. If it's not going to bloat the application, I too see no harm in adding it to enhance the already great XMPlay.

There are plugins doing much scarier more complicated things than shutting down your machine. A DSP/general plugin with a shortcut (on/off), a countdown timer window and a configuration window (standby/hibernate/shutdown, at/after specific time, fadeout) would be enough. Do note that you can easily do this with TOff already.

I was not aware of that hidden feature!
Thank you Dotpitch!

I have just seen there are shortcuts for sorting the playlist according to tag information (artist, album, genre etc') . Can these be made to work also in the library?

Depending on the codec used, there simply is no fixed bit resolution to be reported.

  • Imitate Winamp window to enable external controls

With this option will it be possible to use Winamp's "general" plugins such as AMIP (gen_irc.dll)?

They have just never bothered to display that info :)

Someone (perhaps you?) made the same request a while ago, and "Resolution" info was then added to the "General" info window display for the next releases of the lossless format plugins (FLAC/WV/etc).

Sorry.  I couldn't remember and couldn't find an response.
