I'd love to full-fill the wikipedia page with the features listed there.
How often would you use custom-defined tags? I'll put A-B repeat on the list (Tsorovan also requested that some years back IIRC), but the rest is pretty much already on it or already implemented.

That sounds like you just want another bloated swiss knife. And the first column in this table can not and will most likely never be fulfilled, because XMPlay is an audio player, not a media player.

First of all, I want to say XMPlay is a great program. Keep it that way Cheesy

About playing mp3s with cue files...I know about right clicking next and back buttons to jump from a song to another, but I'd like to be able to search for or play a  specific song in a cue file. It would probably get things a bit more complicated, but I think it would be useful...

I didn't mean just the part I linked to. If you scroll down a bit you'll see that XMPlay has much less features then today's most used audio players. I mean iTunes, WMP, Winamp and etc.

Because the spirit of XMPlay is being lightweight. Not a "even makes coffee in its included kitchen sink" slow moloch. It has every single feature a music player needs, and a lot of useful little extensions on top of it already. Besides, a lot of the stuff in that list can be and should be implemented as plugins.
If one likes "heavyweight" players like iTunes, WMP, and post-2.x Winamp, one should use them or others similar to them. NOT try to bloat up a lightweight player.

Are there particular features for an audio player you really miss, ones that make you go back to WMP/Winamp/iTunes to use them? Note that the list on Wikipedia is skewed (I can think of a number of features XMPlay does have and WMP, Winamp or iTunes lacks), and more isn't always better as wrkq says.

It's just my personal opinion, but a lot of features can be added and won't make XMPlay become a mechabot with swiss-army knife hands Cheesy

For example:
A-B repeat
Tag Editing (just copy&paste... and edit some free code)
Time Stretching/Speeding Up (quick edit the decoder)
Pitch changing (edit the decoder)
Music Store (just make your default browser render the page)

Nicely arranged, Dotpitch!

Just a couple of remarks: isn't playback rate same as tempo (which doesn't seem to be directly related to pitch)?

Multiple custom EQ presets seems kinda redundant, since you can already save/load all settings including EQ. (Not criticizing you of course, since you're just gathering these - don't really remember who suggested that or when.)

Browsing through the rest of the list, it seems that expanding CUE files to virtual tracks is by far the most important of these; the rest is more or less useless to me. It's actually a little surprising how many suggestions have come up since 3.5.1, but most of that stuff seems pretty marginal and some isn't even feasible. Well, towards perfection ad infinitum, right Grin?

It came from this thread:
I'd like the ability to save/load custom EQ settings.  XMPlay 3.5 has the rock, salsa, pop, jazz, flat, etc. settings built-in, and the single "custom" setting.  However, I'd like to make a bunch of custom EQ settings and save each one and load as I desire.
It is possible to use the saved settings for this, but the drawback in that is it'll load the other DSP settings (reverb, DSP plugins) as well.

I'm thinking about a poll to determine what which requests are most popular, but I'm hoping for virtual tracks as well Wink.

Even with the long list of alternative skins available directly from the main download page? Ah well, perhaps there's enough enthusiasm for a new skin compo Smiley.

Remember I'm just a (rather active) user. Ian is the only developer of XMPlay, it's him you should thank Smiley.

Good work Dotpitch! That's a nicely done list. It probably took you some time to collect all those requests/suggestions for XMPlay. It's a big list, with lots of new features. Many of them I won't use, but you can never know.
Anyway, I don't think Ian will implement all of them, but I really hope he will seriously consider "Expand CUE file to virtual tracks" Cheesy

Good luck Ian!

Should it look something like this? It should be optional and the colour should be configurable, IMHO.

Btw, no need to quote the suggestions list...
