Same settings are loaded for the EQ. But when i change through skins.... This is how the frequencies should look like ... and this is how they look when I change to the skins below. ... Other skins have the same bug too. I don't know if it's a bug from XMPlay or from the skins themselves.
Options and stuff > DSP has the correct order. Funny, I never noticed the EQ order was wrong on the Aiwa and Flat II skins (both created by Cypress). Apparently he used the same template as Blackout (by Cerealkiller). It's a mistake in the skin, perhaps they can be updated.

Well no, I don't have winamp on my pc. Only WMP and XMPlay. And WMP plays only videos and other M$ formats. I even tried change the xmplay icon but it didn't work too.
So, WinXP SP3 with only WMP. What icon does Explorer show for XMPlay-able files? What icon does Options and stuff > Integration show?

Again, what icon does Options and Stuff > Integration show? Could you also check what icon is shown at Explorer > Tools > Folder Options > File Types > select MP3 > Advanced? In addition, if you right-click an mp3-file, does the context menu have an 'Add to Windows Media Player list'-entry?

Options and Stuff > Integration shows the icon I supplied. When i look in the explorer tools, then it shows the normal XMPlay icon, but when I click on it it shows "xmplay" good. Also when I click on "change icon" it shows the right one, but when I hit apply it doesn't change. Even if I change it to another one and back to the right one. Suddenly in the XMPlay settings it showed the one I changed it to when I was trying what I described before. And yes when I right click the mp3 file it does show "Add to WMP list".

Testing it here, the icons change almost instantly, especially when the change is performed by XMPlay. I'm at a loss why that's not the case on your machine. Have you tried changing the icon (in XMPlay) and then waiting? Windows does some caching on the icons. Oh, btw, do you have a virus scanner/system protector that might regulate any changes to the registry?

I was still experiencing the fast-forward, chopped-up problem with DirectSound even with the latest Directsound output build and XMPlay "stuff" version.

Checking the "Disable hardware mixing" box in the DirectSound settings fixed the chopped-up sound problem.
Could this mean there's something wrong with my DirectSound?

Also just closed XMPlay and got this error:

The instruction at "0x019c4aca" referenced memory at "0x019c4aca". The memory could not be "read".

Another error:

Unfortunately I am having the same problem, in this case with SB Live! Value soundcard. It also sometimes skips while playing a song, regardless of the format being used (mp3, ogg, wma, flac). I am using DirectSound rev.4, XMPlay v3.5.1.21. Checking the "Disable hardware mixing" also seems to "fix" the problem.

There are no such problems using waveout or ASIO outputs whatsoever, only with DirectSound. Thank you in advance.

Regarding your other question, as Dotpitch mentioned, it is unfortunately not possible for Winamp plugins to take advantage of XMPlay archive plugins as they don't use XMPlay's file handling routines.

You can, however, create custom file associations for your different formats as several users of this forum have done.

Are you getting the crashing too, or only the skipping? If the problem only happens when hardware mixing is enabled, that suggests it could be driver-related. Are you able to reproduce the problem? If so, I'll send you a debug version to get some clues.

No it does not crash, it only skips when I fast-forward to the next song, and also sometimes during the song. It did not happen with previous version of DirectSound (I don't remember which version).
Yes, please send me the debug version.
Thank you in advance  Smiley

I was not able to reproduce the problem with the debug version. However, the problem seems to been minimized with the recent "stuff" version of XMPlay, still skips a second or  so when fast forward to the next track, but it is most probably a driver issue, I'm dealing with a rather old soundcard.

Thank you very much for your support, that's another reason why I'm loyal to XMPlay, besides it's overall high quality.

Tch, got something strange that might need help for.
I have 2 copies of xmplay, one on a usb key, one on my pc. Both of them with (almost) same settings, plugins, updates, and xmplay.ini file for storing prefs.
Suddenly, on the one on the usb key, even if I enable loop on track, well, it won't loop.
It'll loop the playlist, just that, but not a track (which I do setting a shortcut for "current track - loop always").
Is it possible to fix that?
PS: the work pc where I use the usb key has same setup as my home one, admin account on xpsp2.

I don't know if it's just me being stupid, but I can't get the Extreme Pinball s3m files to play in stereo with XMPlay. They're in stereo if I play them in Winamp.

Is your output set to stereo (Options and stuff > Output) and have you tried the different Surround settings (Options and stuff > MOD)?

The culprit here are both Winamp and PSM2S3M, the tool that was used to create those files. The "panning present" field in the S3M header (aka "the FC byte") is not set, which is probably why XMPlay plays the files in mono. Various other parts of the file don't comply to the S3M specs as well, due to the buggy PSM2S3M converter.

On a side note, as indicated above, those files are very bad conversions of the original files. Many things are converted wrong or are missing. You might want to use OpenMPT to convert them to something XMPlay can play instead (just load the original PSM files from the game and save them again, they will save as IT modules). I can promise you that the loader in OpenMPT is very accurate and will play the files as they should be experienced, including surround sound. Wink

Another side note to Ian: The files in the package linked above all have unintended 4-byte sample loops and the loop flag is set, although those samples are not supposed to be looped. S3Ms with intentionally short 4-byte sample loops work in XMPlay, so I suppose you somehow manage to tell whether to ignore them or not. Is this simply based on the sample length ("if long sample, then ignore short loop at the beginning") or is there another reason why the broken loops in the files linked above are not used?

Does anyone know how to disable the centering of the list in the playlist window (everytime I start XMPlay)?

I can't find any (UI) setting to turn it off. Edit INI file's value?

Thanks.

Options and stuff > Playlist > Follow current track: Playlist panel / Extended list? I'm not sure if it applies when starting XMPlay as well.

Thanks Dotpitch, you're always cool with helping.

But the playlist keep centering itself to the last song I played (mine has "Save playback position..." checked) when I start XMPlay regardless I check or uncheck "Follow current track" boxes.

OK, apparently it only applies on track changes, not when starting XMPlay. There is no secret INI option for this, so I'll just put it on the list of suggestions. It might be difficult to implement though, because XMPlay currently does not save the playlist view position at all.

This issue only happens with "Playlist/Library/Info" window, the original playlist panel respects the position, remain unchanged when I restart XMPlay.
