I don't know it's if an xmplay bug, but I found out that if I open a directory (using the right-click on open button and  choosing the directory), the next time I do the same the directory won't be remembered if its name contains characters like "ö". I'm on XP sp2 (or sp3, on another box) and my langage is .it. Is it possible to fix this or I have to change language? Wink

Here's an update that should sort it...

I've uploaded two files with tag problems, Hera Björk and Marcin Mroziñski. They can both be played, but the title and the Artist field are truncated after the funky character in the APEv2 tag. In addition, the second file crashes XMPlay when opening its track info.

The truncated APEv2 tag problem is due to ANSI characters being used in them instead of UTF-8 (which is what APEv2 tags are supposed to use). Here's an update that will check for that...

Let me know if it still gives you any trouble.

Vista 32-bit + Realtek HD Audio (integrated) + digital out + device or DirectSound or WASAPI = pop on next/back and louder-than-should-be pop on seek.  Just updated the Realtek driver.

Maybe it has something to do with the FLAC plugin.  I've tried a few Winamp plugins and hear no popping.

My knee jerk response here is of course a problem with the Realtek driver. If you are able to revert your driver, using a thorough remover like Revo uninstaller, does an older version of the Realtek driver work properly? With digital out you'd be using digital speakers, right? Do sound file types other than FLAC have the same problem? View the processes in Windows Task Manager when you try next/back and see if a process momentarily jumps to 99%. It might be a system process and not XMPlay. I think the answers to these questions will help.

Do the old and new tracks have the same sample format, ie. is the "Output" line in the General info window unchanged? Also, do you have "Reset [amplification] on new track" enabled in the DSP options page, and if so, do you see the amplification slider move upon the track change. Do you also have any DSP plugins enabled?

XMPlay 3.5.1.15, Windows 7 Ultimate 32bit, Intel Core 2 Duo, Realtek HD Audio (integrated).

Whenever I close XMPlay, the process still appears to be active in the task manager. It doesn't have any CPU load, but still consumes memory (Usually about 40MB, since I use various plugins, an external DSP filter and WASAPI output). I tried changing to DirectSound or WaveOut, disabling the DSP plugin, but nothing seems to fix it.

Does it matter whether you still have a track loaded when you close XMPlay (press Stop twice to unload the current track)? Does it happen with the official 3.5.1 as well?

What Windows are you using and what happens after a reboot?

If I unload the track, it's fixed. (Will check if official release makes any difference)

A lot, I don't think I could even write a list here. (And it happens with all audio formats, not just with those which use input plug-ins)

PS: Also, the DSP plugin I use is Jammix Enhancer, if that's also important.

If you move the Jammix DLL out of XMPlays folder and restart XMPlay, does it close properly under all circumstances, or also only when there is no track loaded?

If I remove the DLL, it's fixed. Well, I guess I'll have to look for an alternate filter then.

I'm on Win7 64-bit, but I saw a little flakiness when trying to change my icon too. I got it to work. DanyO, did XMPlay allow you to click the Apply button? If not, try selecting the icon you want, choose another (unwanted) file type to associate with XMPlay, then click Apply. Then unassociate that file and click apply again. Actually though, once I got my icon changing to work, it changed for me on the fly and did not require clicking Apply.

If currently your icon is something other than XMPlay, choose the XMPlay icon and do the things I described above. Then change back to your desired icon. Also, if you are looking at a window of associated file types, be sure to refresh the window view to see if the change took.

If problems continue, try deleting your icon cache. Here is one of many places on the Internet that describes how to do this:

[UPDATE: I see now that when playing this URL in Winamp, the stream address is redirected to http://mega6.radioserver.co.uk:8078, and this address DOES play in XMPlay. So it seems somehow the redirections occurring for Winamp are not occurring properly for XMPlay.]

I'm unable to get the following stream to play in XMPlay version 3.5.1.16:
http://stations.loudcity.com/784/wamp64kaac.pls. I'm able to get other aac+ streams to play in XMPlay. This URL plays in Winamp. When trying this URL I get the following strange display:

That PLS file is in an UCS-2 (or UTF-16-LE) multibyte encoding, with the 0xFFFE Byte Order Marker at beginning, and a null character after every ASCII byte.

Does XMPlay support Unicode files at all? Because if so, that one shall be one of the easiest to identify, having the BOM and all...
