Recording direct to MP3/OGG

I am having difficulty figuring out how i can record directly into mp3/ogg, or if its possible. The problem is i am making long recordings upto 10min, thats 100mb of wav in ram. I was just trying to find a way to use less ram.

Have you tried the - BASSenc 1.0 - extension?
There's a - RecTest - example to encode in Real-Time
to OGG/MP3
