You don't need compatibility mode. XMPlay is fully compatible with Win7.
Uh, but there seems to be a problem here.. did you miss the whole discussion, or is there something I'm missing instead?

Yes, you are. The problem lies with Comodo 4, not with XMPlay + Windows 7.
It may very well be that running a program with admin credentials or in XP compatibility mode bypasses the whole Defense+ system. According to this thread at the Comodo forums, Vista compatibility mode seems to be disabled by Comodo on Win7 x64, which may explain why it does give the error.
Thanks for the advice.  I ended up just uninstalling Comodo.  That fixed the problem right up.

Well yes, I understand that but I assumed the compatibility mode would have had an effect, since the poster suggested it.

I have done everything  disabled d++ entirely  didnt work. Tried compatability mode didnt work. The ONLY way i can get xmplay to launch is to open comodo go to sandbox and launch program and let it run as unrestricted.

When I try to run xmplay 3.51 on Windows 7 64 bit, I get the "This file has been tampered with and MAY BE INFECTED BY A VIRUS!" message.  I do have Comodo Firewall installed, but I even tried disabling defense+, then closing Comodo, then re-downloading the zip file and re-extracting the executable, and I still get the error.

The weird thing, and what makes me think it isn't Comodo, is that if I run the program as administrator, or run it in windows XP compatibility mode, xmplay runs fine and I don't get the error.  (Vista compatibility mode shows the error) The problem is that both running as administrator and running in XP compatibility mode bring up a UAC screen that I have to approve.  If I have to do that every time I run the program it would be pretty unusable.

Is there anyone who actually has 3.51 running under 64 bit Windows 7 and can advise?

Thanks!!

Er. As discussed, the problem is not XMPlay + Windows 7x64. It's because of Comodo.

Simplest solution: Use other "quality, more popular, higher detection rate" antivirus: Avast, Avira, Microsoft Security Essentials, Panda Cloud Antivirus, Norton Antivirus,...

Good news! Though my XMPlay does work with Comodo, I'm doing the update now myself.

I am using XM Play right now with Windows 7 64 bit and AVG free....no problems although I haven't worked with playlists quite yet! I love this little player I think it sounds better than big footprint players with libraries! It starts fast just drag and drop and your listening.  Smiley

O2B, yes, it's the player I use for most of my listening. I don't have or keep a large library of my own MP3s, but I listen to streaming radio much of the time I'm at my computer. Using the Directsound output device, XMPlay easily resamples at 96K/second without taxing my CPU. I also fiddle with playback of midi files; the midi module in XMPlay is simply outstanding. With the integration of Winamp plugins, you can have a lot of fun trying out various DSP plugins too! XMPlay support has been terrific and I do as much as I can with suggestions and bug reports to support this proggie!
