Well, now another oddity has come up. When recording--I'm using Audacity--the release version cuts the way it normally does. However, when recording, the newest "stuff" version seems to work part of the time and other times crops off just a bit at the end. It still seems to playback just the same as the release version (i.e. it clicks the same way) when not recording in Audacity.

Attached is a visual comparison of one of the recorded times when it cuts prematurely.

Measuring the time difference between them for a few times, I got 23ms (1024 samples), 17ms (762 samples), and 23ms (1022 samples).

I also encountered another oddity when experimenting with the audio buffer lengths--it seemed that the buffer at its shortest setting (.100s) played more of the waveform--though it still cut off prematurely--whereas higher buffer settings played less. That may have been something of a statistical fluke though, I haven't tested enough to tell.

Just to be sure, is the "stuff" waveform with the last update (3.6.0.63) that I posted? It looks very similar to the previous (3.6.0.62) recordings.

Yes, it used 3.6.0.63. The 3.6.0.62 recordings cut off a bit earlier, a lot like those from the release version. I can make some more recordings for comparison, if that would help.

Here's a .wav using 3.6.0.63. As I mentioned before, the cutting/cropping occurs irregularly: there are several times in the file where it works as it ought.

Ian,
There's bug with cue: when a file (single or latest in playlist) is finished playing xmplay displays notification about first track of cue.
And I want to ask is there plans about extended cue support (split in tracks) because now rewind/track change is not very comfortable.

If you did not tick Options and stuff > Playlist > 'Unload final track', XMPlay will go to the start of the last file. In this case, would you prefer to unload the track, of would you like XMPlay to go the start of the last track in the cue?

I know about this option but that tray tittle bubble is definitely a bug (or distinctive feature Smiley) because it doesn't appear if cue-file is not present.

OK. Here's another little tweak of the padding for you to try...

Let me know if there's any change.

The update above should stop that (tray title bubble) appearing.

Unfortunately update #64 has been broken something in tray title bubbles functionality, now they don't appear regularly.

Is there any pattern to when the title bubble doesn't appear, eg. does it only happen when manually changing track or when advancing automatically or when a CUE point is reached, or can it affect all 3? More importantly, is the CUE sheet title bubble still appearing at the end? Smiley

For me, in 3.6.0.64 there are no bubbles at all, regular files without cues.

Ian,
First one (appear very rarely when manually changing track). As for CUE, looks like its fixed.
Edit: If I'm switching between files with cue (not tracks in cue as its impossible from tray, I think) info bubble appears with information about first track mentioned in cue-file.

OK. I'm not entirely sure what's going wrong with that, but here's something to try...

If it's still not working, please confirm that the problem only happens when manually changing track, not when playback advances automatically to a new track or a new CUE point?

It still gets cut off early on normal playback, I'm not sure if it sounds any different from the previous versions.

Playback in XMPlay while recording in Audacity is improved, but it seems like it cuts off a very tiny bit every 8-10 times or so.

   www.un4seen.com/stuff/xmplay.exe

It adds an "EndPadding" XMPLAY.INI option to set how much padding (in milliseconds) to add at the end of playback, eg. "EndPadding=50" would add 50ms of padding. Please try playing around with that setting (restart XMPlay after changing it) and see if you are able to eliminate the problem.

Fantastic! Good thinking. "EndPadding=35" does the trick. Thanks so much for your help and patience!

Just checked %cut setting for tag formatting.

I used this string %cut{%?2{%2 - |%?3{%3/}}%?1{%1|%0}|23|…} and it doesn't seem to work on 7th track.
Also because Japanese/Chinese/Korean symbols are full width english text look too short now (threating CJK and maybe other symbols as 2 Latin symbols might be nice idea).

Could you post the contents of the Message tab of the Info Window for that track? I guess one of the symbols messes up the title cut syntax.
