When choosing from the searches history menu , could the selected one be brought back to the top/most recent search in the list? Otherwise even re-used ones are lost from the history list after a while.

That I can agree to :)

I hope that was meant  not only the first part ;)

How about adding to the close button menu : "restart" option ?

If you added a skin , plugin or changed the ini settings - a quick restart (continueing exactly where you left off) would be a little easier.

Quote from: Ian @ un4seenThe update above also adds a "Lock position" option to the main window's right-click menu, which locks the position of both the main and info windows.

That's really usefull for Laptops where the mouse is not as friendly as a Desktop PC :)

I tried the update, with mixed results. The upside is that I can't accidentally move the info window now. The downside is that it means anytime I do want to move both windows, I have to unlock them, move them, and then relock them. That could get tedious after a while, plus there's a good chance I'd forget to relock them.

I know it's probably a bit trickier to program it this way, but IMHO the best solution would be this:

1. Once the user has positioned the windows relative to each other the way they want them, then they would lock the info window's position. (so it can't be moved on it's own)
2. If they decide to change the layout, then they would have to unlock it - change the position, then relock it. (Chances are this isn't going to happen often once they've arranged it)
3. So with the info window locked, the user would still be able to move both windows together by moving the main window - but unable to move just the info window.
4. In addition to locking just the info window, the next (but not absolutely necessary) option would be to lock both windows (as it is now), to ensure that no windows can be moved on the screen.

I'm sorry for being a bit repetitive - just trying to make it easy to understand. Hope I'm not asking for too much, and thanks.

Not being able to move the main window makes this option kinda useless. That's not what we want.
Moreover, the 'Lock Position' option should also lock the dimensions of the extended playlist/info window so (accidental) resizing is not possible.

That's the behavior I was looking for in XMPlay, currently available in other audio players. The playlist/info window adheres into place (magnet-like) with the main window, without any accidental clicking getting it out of place.

Nonetheless the new lock position option is a nice feature :)

Quote from: Pike84That's nice, but the idea was actually not having to have the player visible to know this - just adding that "adding" text to the mouse hover bubble at the tray icon would help lots :).

The thing is that the tray bubble is actually the same bubble as is shown for normal bubbles (just in a different place), so while an "adding" message is showing in the tray, no other bubbles could be shown.

I figured that if you want to manage the list, the list would need to be visible, so you can see the "adding" message there :)

With the update above, you can right-click (while holding down the left button) to temporarily unlock either of the windows. I think that should make it possible to do what you want without too much effort. For example, if you have the "Move (info window) with main window" and "Lock position" options enabled, you can right-click on the main window to move both of the windows.

As long as I remember to right-click, that works fine. I'd still be nice to be able to drag the main window the normal way though. The way you've done it actually makes it easier to reposition the info window (temporarily), than having to change a setting back and forth like I was thinking you would have to. I like how that works. But it means you have to remember to right-click.

Oh yeah, oddiophile is right about the resizing too... that should be locked as well - that didn't even occur to me.

Ok, then how about just popping a tray bubble for a while (like at track change), when the adding is complete, like I first suggested? This would be complete with an optional sound effect to play at the time - now that I think about it, either of these alone would suffice :).

You see, the thing about the "adding" text being in the main GUI is, that I could already see the the adding of files going on from the entry numbers increasing, easily enough - the change isn't very remarkable. I'd just like to know when the list would be ready to manage without checking it from the GUI every once in a while.

XMPlay is getting better and better. Thanks for the updates :)

Couldn't have said it better myself.

Chinese Sausage, where can I find the skin you showed in your second post in this thread? It looks like a modded MMD3 skin.

It is from Quitessential Media Player, it is a skin for that player that I was using as an example. I downloaded it from the player itself. Of course being an XMPlay user, that skin is available for download, including other variants as well.

Sadly the useful "Flash the current track from the playlist/library" feature that is included in QMP, has not been added yet to XMPlay. I highly hope this feature can be implemented in the near future. :)

DrStrange

Thanks for putting me on the right track. The skin is actually QMP Experience which is Quintessential Media Player's version of MMD3. XMPlay doesn't have this skin, maybe it'll be ported in time for 3.7? Bit confusing since there is also a MMD3 skin for Qunitessential Media Player  ;D.
Thanks again, it's a great player.

QMP Experience is actually QMP's port of the MMD3 skin originally made for Winamp. MMD3 for QMP is actually a variation in colors (and vis) of the same MMD3 port from Winamp's MMD3. As you can see, there is not much difference between QMP Experience and XMPlay's MMD3 port, except for the spectrum analyzer and some of the buttons being changed for XMPlay's own functions (thus the elimination of the treble and bass buttons, and the addition of the balance button).

Wasapi exclusive mode enforces a response delay at the length of the buffer . In exclusive mode also only one application can output audio so the internal volume is not needed to set a relative volume to other applications. In this mode then - is it possible to link xmplay internal main volume control with the system device volume control?

Ian @ un4seen

OK, here's an update to try, with a "Control device volume" option for that...

Thanks, It works! A couple of small things :

1. Even when the new option is toggled off it still controls the device volume and not the internal volume. I am guessing This is not intentional.

2. My audio card is ESI juli@.Maybe its volume control is logarithmic already, because when xmplay volume is set to logarithmic as well the result is square logarithmic curve (or something similar) , ie (xmplay -1.2db)=(device -8db) ;(xmplay -2.4db)=(device -12db) and so on.

I simply disabled the logarithmic option in xmplay but maybe it is should be disabled altogether when controlling the device volume?
