Also, is it possible to add a Wave-write to disk option for the playlist context menu? So that we could wave-write and listen to music at the same time?
The current architecture only allows there to be one track open for playback/decoding at a time, so unfortunately it isn't possible to play and write multiple tracks simultaneously. To make it possible would require some big pretty changes in XMPlay and the plugins, but that couldn't be done for Winamp plugins (so they would still only handle one file at a time). I'm not sure it's worth it. You could just launch another XMPlay instance for the file writing

Some players that I have used give the user the option to have the player automatically remove the track from the Playlist after it has been played.
I really like this feature as I can keep adding more tracks from time to time, but the Playlist trims itself after the tracks have been played. The "Now Playing" track will always be at the top of the Playlist.
It is possible to add this feature?

While "quick find" tooltip is active pressing 'esc' button causes the current search to be cancelled. Is it possible , instead of completely clear the search criteria in this case , to restore the pattern that was used prior to "quick find" activation?
Yep, that could be useful, so here's an update that should do it... www.un4seen.com/stuff/xmplay.exeSome players that I have used give the user the option to have the player automatically remove the track from the Playlist after it has been played.

The update above adds a "Remove after playing" menu option to the "Remove from list" button (there is also a shortcut for it), which should do what you ask, except that the current track won't necessarily be at the top (unless you start playback from the top). A dead track (missing/unplayable) won't be automatically removed if the "Stop at dead track" option is enabled.

Thanks for that. That is a feature that I have been hoping would come for a long time.

Replace the default skin. Sorry, but I hate it, and I think it gives a bad first impression to anyone discovering XMPlay for the first time. Maybe it is only me who just doesn't have the love for the default skin. I don't mean to offend. It is just my opinion.

How about allowing to save queue lists?
When in queue view the save button can save the current queue list...I saw it is possible already...

Hmm, a tiny little thing... Current "Stop at end of track" is literal. That is, it stops "in the current track", so when you hit Play again, it replays it. Would adding a second option in stop button's rightclick menu, one that'd also stop but after advancing to next track, so clicking Play starts with track after the one that last played (and ended) had any point? (Or maybe at least an .ini setting to choose between these two behaviors?)
Regards...

Couldn't you just hit the Next button instead of the Play button?

Oh wow! You're onto it. Great! The AngelAG skins such as the ALFA Evolution would be nice. Maybe AngelAG wouldn't mind someone porting this.

It's a good looking skin for sure, and I hope someone could make a version of it for XMPlay, but skins ported from other players aren't ideal for default skin. They are also forbidden in the competition rules you linked to.

Well, it doesn't have to be ported. Something similar would be nice.

EDIT!
A new tray icon or selectable tray icon color(s) would be nice.

Are the autoamp/preamp procedure and volume slider applied in two separate steps? Can they be calculated together and applied in a single process?

The amp and volume settings are currently applied separately, but the sample data remains floating-point throughout, so that should have no detrimental effect on quality. Depending on the output system, the volume may not be applied at all by XMPlay, but rather the device/driver: that's the case when using DirectSound or WASAPI (if the device/driver has its own volume control), or when the default output system is used on Vista/above.

This is an interesting feature. The gf sure loves it because it keeps the playlist neat and while I do too, I've run into a small problem. I have playback position saving upon closing enabled but if I close XMPlay with "remove after playing" enabled, the next time I start it, the track has already been removed so playback can't resume.

Would it be possible to make a (secret) setting so that for example double right clicking a folder plays its contents?

double right clicking a folder
You mean in Explorer? XMPlay cannot simply monitor mouse clicks on Explorer and then steal them for its own purposes (well in theory everything is possible, but it would be a mess, really). Why don't you simply use the "Folders" and "...sub" settings from XMPlay's Integration settings? You'll get a context menu entry for opening folders with XMPlay in explorer then.

Indeed, in explorer. I see, now that you mention it I realise a right-click brings up the explorer context menu. My thinking was that a quick double-click like left-double click could override it. I dunno I do use the open/add to XMPlay from right-click context menu but I like something faster but still from explorer. Any ideas? I only have two buttons on my mouse. Maybe even with additional software but rather not.
