A question : in windows 7's taskbar , right clicking xmplay icon (if it is pinned or active) displays "recent" list of tracks/playlists. What are those files? That list doesn't change no matter what I play or open from file explorer. Is there a way to show there the actual recent played tracks?
The right click list shows recent *files* opened by a program. This list is a native feature of Windows, not something from XMPlay. For any program, such as Microsoft Word, this right click on the taskbar icon will show recently opened files. For XMPlay, it will likely show files opened with File > Open from XMPlay or file icons/names recently double clicked to invoke XMPlay. For example, if I double click a .xmpskin file to invoke XMPlay, this skin name will also show in the recent files list.

Strange, I'm not seeing that, so I'm not sure what it is. When do files get added to the list, eg. when using XMPlay's file selector? The right click list shows recent *files* opened by a program. This list is a native feature of Windows, not something from XMPlay. For any program, such as Microsoft Word, this right click on the taskbar icon will show recently opened files. For XMPlay, it will likely show files opened with File > Open from XMPlay or file icons/names recently double clicked to invoke XMPlay. For example, if I double click a .xmpskin file to invoke XMPlay, this skin name will also show in the recent files list.
OK , thanks. I see that now. The files are updated when any windows native interface is used : opening in windows explorer or xmplay own file opening interface. After digging a little further on the web I understand these lists are called "jump lists". These can be program to include any list the developer likes - if its files or tasks. |More information can be read here and here. I also attached a sample for programming customised jumplists from here. As we are in the suggestion thread...the obvious suggestion is : why not use more of windows 7 features in the taskbar like those jumplists (for playback history?) or showing the progress bar overlay?

Oh, and I had a small suggestion too: could it be made so that Ctrl+up/down (default key) would move the playlist view to the selected track even if it wasn't loaded? Perhaps alternately to the first queue item, if there is a queue.
Dropping the Ctrl key from that should bring the selected track into view Haha... This may be the dumbest suggestion I've made so far . Should've been obvious.

Okay, I have a suggestion: Winamp 5 Plugin Support. And/or support for Unicode-enabled Winamp Plugins. Or in short, can you try getting this plugin to work for XMPlay? The plugin is an unofficial, late, build of the Vio2SF plugin that plays music from Nintendo DS games at perhaps better-than-hardware quality, considering it has interpolated sample mixing as a feature. A library of samples can be found here. Short of that, and natively adding a few more MOD formats (FAR, STM, 669, MED, OKT, ULT to name a few...), the player rocks a BILLION ways! It passed the Armani Showers (Sample tune in Scream Tracker 3.21) test of S3M support! In other words: Best Player EVER!

Armani Showers is far from being the most complicated S3M to play... on the contrary... XMPlay (like 99% of all other S3M players) doesn't even try to emulate all the ST3 idiosyncrasies (rightfully so). Short of that, and natively adding a few more MOD formats There are good plugins already that take care of those formats, like xmp-delix, in_sk00l or in_modplug.

I wasn't even thinking about those, but yes, those are something that only very few S3M players actually support.

Here's an update to try, with support for Unicode-enabled Winamp plugins... www.un4seen.com/stuff/xmplay.exe

whoa... The plugin's Config window doesn't visually appear anywhere except as a ghost on the taskbar, but congratulations; it at least plays effortlessly without crashing! Good job for a WIP!

Any way of adding selectable default codepage for reading tags from non unicode plugins? I have MDX FMP & PMD plugins and most tracknames look like mess since they're in S-JIS but encoded with local codepage.
P.S. Then running xmplay through applocale under japanese locale it works fine but then you try to enter options and stuff interface freezes ;( (checked on 3.6.0.25 and 3.6.0.1)
P.P.S Also customizable font will be really helpfull here.

It looks like the plugin is using a new system whereby its config is integrated with Winamp's Preferences window rather than in a separate window. I'm not sure whether it will be possible to support that. Any way of adding selectable default codepage for reading tags from non unicode plugins? Presumably the same problem happens when using the plugins with Winamp too? If not, please point me to the plugins to have a look at. Otherwise, I think the best solution would be to have the plugins updated to use Unicode. In the meantime, here is an update with improved tag support for Winamp plugins... www.un4seen.com/stuff/xmplay.exeTag information (from plugins that support the ExtendedFileInfo system) should now be available in XMPlay, eg. in the library and "Track info" windows.

Attached plugins. And yes there's problem with winamp plugins when filename or one of folders in path not in local codepage since they're can't be read.

Hit some pause related issues I couldn't resolve with quick searching.. - Could NoFlashPause=0/1 instead be something like FlashPause=none/button/time/both?
- Is it possible to control whether XMPlay starts paused when it was closed paused and saving playback position. Kinda preferred the previous behavior of instant party time regardless of play/pause state of previous session.

Generally I have one suggestions - add m4a/aac tag editing ability. Or even add universal tag editing plugin - winamp plugins are good, but most of them are too old and newer versions are not supported, since Winamp in v5.x edits tags in another way as in 2.x. I don't expect to have super-mega tag editing tool , but ability to change main fields (and also automatically pause/resume track on tag saving) will be very useful

Regarding the history menu thing... it is a history of recent playback (not necessarily of what files have recently been added to XMPlay), which is why I figured the "Play" button is a fairly logical place for it, but here's an update in which it has been moved to the main panel's right-click menu... Umm... It seems like the menu is back in the play button again .
