also, another one i'd like to see is file writing support for local media...how come it's only supported for streaming ? What do you need it for? There's a "WAV Writer" option in the dropdown menu of Output->Device, and also support for different encoders. If you only need a copy of the file, you're better off just copy-pasting it in Windows Explorer, though.

I assume you mean the "Save to disk" feature. This feature only rips an exact copy of online streams, so it's pretty pointless for local files. What you are most likely after is the WAV writer output device. Edit: oops, missed new page!kokocipher: It's an option for Module files only. The way it works doesn't make much sense for other file types.

Could we have the NoFlashTotal ini setting accept another value, which would then make the time display constantly show the selected tracks?

Could the "recent tracks" list be extended to also include track changes in web radios?
Yep, I think that could be nice to have. I'm not sure about adding them to the "Recent tracks" menu though, as it should be possible to jump back to a track using that menu, which of course isn't possible in a radio stream. Instead, here's an update to try, in which the recent (last 5) tracks are shown in the Message info window... www.un4seen.com/stuff/xmplay.exei'm fond of the surround effect, which seems good for widening the stereo image and focusing certain elements more to the centre, at least for ProTracker modules, where beats and drumloops are usually panned
however, the effect can be a little too much on some tracks, and the sound may become rather mushy...
so i was thinking, it would be great if there was a slider for this effect, that would allow us to set a preferred balance between the wet and dry signal (also being stored with saved settings) ♥
The surround effect doesn't really have wet and dry signals; it involves delaying the left or right signal slightly. You could try playing with the "Pan separation" slider and see if that gets things more to your liking. Could we have the NoFlashTotal ini setting accept another value, which would then make the time display constantly show the selected tracks?
Yep, the update above should do that when NoFlashTotal=2 is used.

Absolutely. It does this with the native Winamp DSP wrapper.

s s s .. sweet :0
According to the download page info., it's already included in the default installation. Does that mean I don't need to download? Further more, do I just drag the winamp plugins to XMplay's plugin folder?
Is there anything that XMplay can't do D:?

Yes, you just need xmp-wadsp.dll (in the main download) next to xmplay.exe. Further more, do I just drag the winamp plugins to XMplay's plugin folder? Yes, put the Winamp plugin dlls in the plugin folder, then configure the wrapper as described in the Illustrated Manual.

It's a nice idea but I'm not really sure about it in practice, so it's an XMPLAY.INI option for now (add a "CueMark=1" line). Let me know what you think, ie. is it worth keeping and enabling by default.
Loving the feature here. One minor thing: It looks to me like the last cue mark line is not being drawn. And a spin-off of saga's position bubble idea: showing the relevant track title in there..

Can xmplay display tracks count in the tray bubble? I didn't find such information, so it would be great to see such usefull feature in next releases. Especially since it has been already realized at the main window. Thanks

I suggested this a while ago: I was thinking about the search patterns. Why not go one more step and make them usable as "smart" playlists?
Adding the possibility to combine sorting options to a search pattern would make it a "complete" criteria based list that can be re-loaded again and again.
How about adding an option to the search button menu: "sync playlist with matches" (or other name). This will cause the playlist to be a snapshot of the search results as they are sorted in the library. This option , not only will allow 'smart playlists' but also allow , essentially , to use the library as playlist. I know it is different from current approach but as an option I think it is useful.

If I understand correctly, I think what you want may already be possible in a slightly different way. You can right-click on the search results in the "Find tracks" window and choose "Replace playlist" to create a playlist from the search results, and you can first click on the title or filename column headers to sort by either of those things. The "Replace playlist" option is also available when right-clicking on tracks in the library, and that could be used after "Select all matches" to create a playlist of all matches from there. One thing that's missing is a shortcut for the "Replace playlist" option, so it isn't currently possible to do this with the keyboard alone. I'll add a shortcut in the next update.

The idea was to create playlists "on the fly" when choosing a search pattern from the search history submenu. If an option to "replace playlist" was in the list along with "skip non matches" and "select all matches" , each time the search pattern was changed so would the playlist. The playlist would then show the library snapshot of the matches.

Just to be sure, do you mean that there would be a switch to enable automatic replacing of the playlist whenever the search parameters are changed, or there would be an option to request that the playlist is replaced with the search results at that moment? I'm not sure automated replacing would be very practical, as it could mean that the currently playing track is accidentally removed.

I thought a constant synchronization of the search results and playlist would be the best method. This allows the playlist to reflect any changes of the library over time. Second best method would be to apply the search results only when you apply the search criteria with enter (for find quickly) or the button apply (in search windows) If the currently played track is part of the search matches couldn't it continue playing without interruption?

Here's an update that adds a "List - Replace from library" shortcut to replace the playlist with the library's selected tracks... www.un4seen.com/stuff/xmplay.exeI'm still unsure about the automated playlist replacing. I'll have to think about it. In the meantime, you could manually replace the list when wanted by assigning a shortcut key to the "List nav - Find all" and "List - Replace from library" actions.

I'm still unsure about the automated playlist replacing. I'll have to think about it. Is because that is a different approach than current "skip non matches"? Another way would be to add an option for the playlist and library to be synchronized. Then each search pattern will allow playing all currently available matches without going back to library search and manually replacing playlist.
