Hello,

Is there anyway you can make XMPlay always have the "Focus" and open on top of other opened windows like IE9 for example without having to use "On top" settings?

Another example is if I have XMPlay open and I click onto IE9 XMPlay hides in back of IE9 window. But then when I click the XMPlay system tray icon XMPlay will not reshow ontop of IE9 window.

Can this be fixed without having to use "On top" setting in XMPlay?

I do not have this issue with other media player like Winamp for example.

I hope you guys understand what I mean Smiley

Erm, that's exactly what the 'On top' settings are for. Why don't you want to use them?

Could you try the stuff version?

Ok good news! Smiley

The "Stuff Version" works like the way I want it too Smiley

I just have to enable Mini in the on top settings.

May I ask what the "Stuff Version" build is all about? And can the regular XMPlay released build be made to work this way too? Smiley

Thanks

The "stuff version" is an incremental build. Ian only announces major and minor point versions, but he'll post the link to the current build when he fixes a particular bug or implements a specific feature.

So in short: yes, the regular XMPlay release will almost certainly work this way too (3.7).

Update!

Its not working the way I want after all. Sad

To understand better what I mean if you can install Winamp you can see how you can click off Winamp and then just hit the Winamp system tray icon and Winamp comes right back up on screen above other windows. This is how I want XMPlay to be.

Ok I just figured out why I cannot get XMPlay to act just like Winamp!

Its becasue XMPlay allows you to "Minimize" the player when clicking on the system tray icon which Winamp does not.

I use the "SingleClickTray - Restoring to/from tray icon with single click" which is part of the reason why I am having this issue.

Now if I double click the XMPlay system tray icon it will restore it but I do not want to have to double click. I only want to single click.

Now if I were to remove the "SingleClickTray" option then I would be bale to open/Restore XMPlay over IE9 Window however then I would also nned to double click when opening XMPlay which I rather not do.

So my question is is there anyway to not allow XMPlay to be "Minimized" when "single clicking" the system tray icon? I only want to be able to restore/Open XMPlay from the system tray icon with single click.

So this way when XMPlay is behide a window clicking the system tray icon would bring it in front of the window instead of "Minimizing" it.

This would fix my issue Smiley

Removing the SingleClickTray setting would solve the problem you're describing here, but when does that cause problems? When you've minimized XMPlay yourself?

Yes removing "SingleClickTray" does solve the problem but then I have to "double click" XMPlay icon when its minimized in the system tray.

I want to be able to "single click" system tray icon for when XMPlay is behide windows and also when XMPlay is minimized in the system tray.

You can do this with Winamp but not XMPlay.

Now if I use "SingleClickTray" I am able to open XMPlay when its minimized in the system tray with "single click" but then I have to "double Click" to bring XMPlay in front of other windows when XMPlay is behide them instead of minimized.

Do you understand what I mean Smiley

I do understand this is probably not a big deal to most users of XMPlay but I was a long time Winamp user and I am used to it working the way I explained.

XMPlay also does not open above all other windows unless I have On Top Normal or Mini checked off Sad

And I don't want to use On Top Normal or Mini checked off because then AMPlay is "always" on top and thats not what I want. I just want XMPlay to be on top when I open and re show the player. If I have XMPlay over another window and I click onto that winodw then I want XMPlay to hide in the back of it.

Will this be fixed?

If this is going to be implemented, it should be because it's useful or sensible, not because some other program has it.

Trying it over here, with SingleClickTray=1 and both On top settings unchecked, XMPlay opens on top of other windows when restoring from tray. What window is covering XMPlay in your case?

I am having this issue too. It was discussed before. Ian says it is normal behavior for XMPlay when it is covered with ANY other window you have to double click the tray icon. Otherwise, when you minimize XMPlay itself, it functions with a single-click as it is intended.

I too would like to have this function when XMPlay is covered by a window, if it is possible of course. Smiley

When I use "Mini player" it always seems to open behide other windows unless I use "On top" settings.

"Full player" does not seem to have this problem and always will open over other windows even when not using "On top" settings.

Who can contact to see if these issues can be fixed?

I can't reproduce that. What version of XMPlay do you have, what Windows do you have and what window is covering XMPlay (IE9 specifically, or even basic things like Explorer and Notepad)?

I am on Windows 7 SP1 64 Bit and its happening with all windows.

XMPlay 3.6

Ok now this is really strange I moved the whole XMPlay folder to my desk top and then back to where it was before on the c drive and now XMPlay opens above windows again.

So now I have no idea whats goin on Smiley lol

But its working for now.

By posting in this forum, you're already contacting the (only) developer of XMPlay: Ian Luck actively reads the forum.

XMPlay is once again not opening over any other windows! Sad

Something is causing this to happen and I have no idea what. My other media players do not have this issue.

This really sucks for me becasue other then this issue and the "minimizng with clicking on the XMPlay system tray icon" issue XMPlay wpuld be just about perfect!

I guess I am just screwed!
