we are investigating Bass at the moment to find out if we can use it in our product.
we need the following features:

1: list all audio devices in XP and newer OS including Citrix environment
2: record and playback sound directly to/from Speex file
3: set the format and codec to use during recording and playback
4: fast and slow playback
5: setting pitch during slow and fast playback to get nice sound and not the squirrel sound
6: insert/override existing recording
7: adjust vollume of speaker and microphone
