The most usefull I could find is SoulSeek.
Download at http://www.slsk.org/slsk139c.exe
Simple, fast, not annoying, just as miranda-vs-ICQ or XMPlay-vs-Winamp3.0

PS: Also surprized that my topics become so popular around here... ))

Why not become a member then?

Oh, and YIM 5.5 is just out. Time to update my copy of it (apparently Miranda screws up some YIM things - it was ignoring lines which contained angle brackets I think - Ralesk and I were chatting and worked that one out).

YIM 5.5 has been out for half a year or so.  Stupid internationalisation is always late by a lot.  Both on AIM and YIM.

Anyhow, Miranda is a British production (basically anyway, now many different people work on it), and speaks normal English so :P

As soon as there are people here who are fond of British software, I may recommend take a look at www.easymessage.net
This IM support AOL, ICQ, Yahoo, MSN. It could be very popular IM client in case of more productive development. Files are all about 500 kb after installation.

By the way, that www.slsk.org is a programm for file sharing, not IM

I tried Miranda, but it didn't have chat-logging (at least the version I used). :P

Ralesk

It doesn't have CHAT at all :)

It has logging ever since before 0.0.6.0 and that version was like uh two years ago :D

For P2P, I think I will permamently stick by the FastTrack network and its various clients (Kazaa, Kazaa Lite, iMesh, etc.). The downside is that sofar they are Windows-only (unless you use WINE under Linux). The upside is that they are fast and virtually unlimited in their capacity to reach out to other nodes and supernodes. This is where other P2P networks like *Nap and Gnutella seem to consistantly fail.

For IM, Trillian is still #1 for me, I just switched my mom over to using it (along with killing AOL for her *lol*). I've tried Easy Message and if I ever get a USB Key drive I'll put it on there since it is small and fast and will get the job done. Never heard of Miranda, but I'll try it out here soon now ... ;-)
