VorbisGain support?

Hi.

Does anyone think that VorbisGain support is a good idea for XMplay?

Zarggg

It sounds like an interesting idea, but is it actually as useful as it claims?

Setting the volume gain adjustment for each track before playing is a great idea. Sometimes some tracks in playlist are loud, others calm. Normalization isn't solution because various frequencies with the same amplitudes have different audible loudness. Replaygain calculates average audible loudness of whole track and allows avoid handed volume corrections at every track in playlist.

The same way as I don't believe in AAR, I don't believe in some reasons for normalisation.

Some music is meant to be loud, and some music is meant to be soft.  If you meddle with the relative loudness of parts WITHIN the song, you are messing up the song itself (unless it was already borked, but then why would you listen to it, heh).  Decent artists care about volume harmony decently, and thus it exists and is important.

That's about it. :]

Replaygain is volume gain, not amplification gain. Volume is gained only one time before start playing track.
