Cross Referencing Lame/Ogg

First, how I got into this mess.
I just assisted a friend with installing a CD-RW drive.  Then I downloaded CDex, 1.5 beta10.  Didn't work.  Drivers are okay per aspichk.exe.  Problem appears to be CDex doesn't recognize the new drive.  Tried auto-detect and a couple of the options listed as Pass still wouldn't put anything into the Drive name blank.
So, I decided to rip with something else.  Decided to use XMPlay, though no jitter control per the support site.

Wanted to use LAME.  On the support site under encoders the download link connects to a lot of interesting info, but no lame.exe, the file needed per the instructions.  Friend's computer has Win ME (all comments already made).

Found LAME 3.92 here under the MO3 heading.  It downloads a lot of files in a zip package.  Now what?

So, I'm suggesting that the support site and XMPlay cross-reference to the LAME download already here and provide install instructions for use within XMPlay.

I did solve the problem by using the internal wav writer and then CDex for wav to mp3, but eliminating the middle man would be good.

I'm also going to try dropping back to 1.4 in CDex, see what happens.

Thanks!

Its there you just need to look a bit :P but... yes I might want to make it a bit easier.

Thanks!
The reason or the Ogg ref in the title is I had the same problem with installing that encoder.

For other users of CDex:  setting the file naming options, if you use a '/' you're defining a folder name for the file when ripped, while items with a '-' are on the track name.
Many's the times I've sat around feeding empty Cdex folders into the fire for warmth.
