Definately the same bug as I reported a few days ago. Lemme guess, you're also trying to replay a KSS-file with different subsongs? :)

I stand by my conclusion that NEZplug sucks. :P

Brightguy

It's working fine over here...

I use Nosefart to play .NSFs and NezPlug to play .GBSs.  I'm not sure what .KSS files are, where could I get one? :D

Anyway, you right-click on the previous/next track buttons to change sub-songs.  If you left-click you'll change to the next song in the playlist. :)

KSS is a general fileformat for various soundchips/systems, but most files on the web are rips from the MSX Home Computer System. A quick search should yield some results and e.g. at http://www.geocities.com/q_321/ you'll find some Konami-rips (goooooooood stuff!). :)

Just don't use the included M3U playlists because those will trigger the subsong-bug, as I've described in an earlier thread. ;)

I downloaded the NEZ plugin, and it seems to be working fine here too - right-clicking the prev/next buttons jumps to the prev/next sub-song. Though, the couple of files I downloaded (mgear & ssnake) seemed to just be sound effects from the games - is that right? :)

Brightguy

Yeah, the KSS files seem to be only sound effects.

Nosefart also works in the same way: right-click to change sub-songs.  If anyone wants some some GBS/NSF files, they have a big stash of them here:
http://www.zophar.net/gbs/

http://www.zophar.net/nsf/

I also use NezPlug to play AY files, I'm not sure what the other types are.

The KSS files from Konami DO contain the actual game BGMs. However these are located, most of the times, at the very end of the files! (Mostly 'round subsongs 80/90) That's where the extended M3U formats came in handy, they provided direct "links" to the actual BGMs (and other information).

But, as stated earlier, with the introduction of the subsong feature in XMPlay, compatibility with most extended M3U files has been broken. Mind you that this doesn't only affect NezPlug, but quite a few other plugins as well.

So to summarize: subsong switching works (great!) but extended M3U doesn't (anymore...  :()

Ian @ un4seen

You say "anymore", does that mean they worked before? I'd be surprised if they did, as I don't recall any "extended" M3U. Anyway, I'll see what I can do about them :)

Haze

Indeed, it worked before... prior to the implementation of the subsong feature.  :P

Ian @ un4seen

Turns out the problem is/was actually the ':' in the M3U entries making XMPlay think they were full paths, so it didn't bother sticking the path to the file infront of them.

It'll be sorted in the next release. If you want to use the M3U files in the meantime, you can open them in Notepad and stick the path at the beginning of each entry.

Haze

*feels pretty st00p1d for not having noticed that* ;D

And here I was thinking it had something to do with the way XMPlay handled subsongs. ::) Thanks for noticing, Ian!
