hooray, new release! I love this player!

However, I cant seem to make 24bit mode work, and i'm not sure what the benefits are from it - could we have some discussion as to what it actually does? I'm using an M-Audio Audiophile soundcard. As I understand it at the moment, 24bit means you can send higher amplitude signals to your soundcard, without clipping.. so you can mix differently..??

It have one nifty thing it can see what mp3 encoder was used to make the mp3 song very nice thing to have in a mp3 player.

Ian is it possible to have that function in XMPlay to?

The changes are all mentioned in the skinning kit readme.

Anyway, the most important change is, that controls' bounding boxes can now overlap!

Well, the skin creating process was that "quick" because I had the 2.6 beta for quite some days now.

A few questions ... What type of file are you trying to play? I guess it says "16 bit" in the "Output" display of the "General" info window when you try playing it? Have you also tried 32-bit? Does 24-bit output work ok in other apps (eg. Winamp+MAD)? Finally, what Windows version are you using?


Btw... just updated XMPlay to display the position when using the hotkeys to seek while it's minimized to tray, so you'll all have to redownload for this amazing feature

I have one little suggestion to the title formatting. XMPlay main window could always display song title. If I set a long form, such as "artist (album) - songtitle" (which I like on the ext. playlist), then the display in the main window is (most of the time) useless, because there is not enaugh room for all the strings!

My experience with 2.6: display updates less frequently.  Dunno why.  both the small vu meter, but especially noticeable on an MP3's frame count.

2.6 rocks!  It owns!  It has new features and good looks and fun goodness!

But I misunderstood the queue at first... it seemed to me like a process that would mean designating the order of tracks for a bit just to defy the random order.  I assumed that after it was done reading from the queue, it would head back into random mode.

Needless to say, I was a bit dismayed to find the note in the docs that says XMPlay will cease playing once the queue is up.  Wouldn't it make some sense to allow users the option of queueing a few tracks and expecting them to play without then having to tell the player to go about its normal playlisting business?
