IMHO:
XMPlay little player with very good features... also working on Windows NT (also all Windows versions).
This is one of the only multi players that workes fine on NT. Funny that "Windows Media Player" is not working on NT.

If I set a long form, such as "artist (album) - songtitle" (which I like on the ext. playlist), then the display in the main window is (most of the time) useless, because there is not enaugh room for all the strings!

That's the main reason the title bubble was added - when you don't know what the track is, just place the mouse over the title.

My experience with 2.6: display updates less frequently.  Dunno why.  both the small vu meter, but especially noticeable on an MP3's frame count.

Yep, the time and level update rates were dropped to 20fps - the old 40fps was a bit overboard and unneccesary. It also meant the GUI updates were usually taking more CPU than the actual playing, and we all hate to waste CPU ... infact, the GUI updating can still take more CPU than the playback, but it's less than previously

Vis (inc. pattern view) still run at 40fps.

Regarding title formatting...how about a "%5 - filename" one?

I'm one of those ID3 haters, and would prefer to only see the filenames -- including mod files -- in the title area + playlist. Pretty please? :D

Multiple file operations in the playlist is finally here! Great great! That was my biggest gripe, and now it's gone. Yay.

A suggestion: how about a shortcut for clearing the playlist (ctrl+bksp perhaps?)? That would make all those playlist buttons unnecessary, and that would be nice (for me).

More suggestions (they are probably on your list):

"Magnetic"/"snappable" windows...main application doesn't matter much, but it would be nice if one could have the info window move along with the main app.

That UI "freezing on song change whilst in mini mode" bug is still there (Win2K Pro SP1/SP3 + WinXP non-SP1/SP1), which means I have to change from mini mode and back to get the the UI to start updating again. A tad annoying.

A skin option that will change the behaviour of all sliders, horizontal as well as vertical (duh?). Make them work like the level meter. That is, a fillable bar. Would make small skins' sliders be much more nicer. Especially mine heh.

Option to remove the file numbering in the playlist, along with the medium type (MP3, IT, OGG, yadda yadda). Oh, and the time display in the playlist should, in my opinion, be right adjusted and not centered, but I might be nitpicking :)

It's getting there... :D

Woohoo! This is a BIG improvement between versions, now . There were three (to me) Major requests fulfilled and, of course, lots of other stuff added too .

Guesty-person had a good point about that track queuing tho: it'd be better if the player would continue playing normally, after queued tracks were played, but I assume this is easily fixed .

Oh btw, I was about to write here about a bug, before I noticed, 2.6 had come out. When I tried to shuffle a playlist of about 100 tracks, Xmplay stopped responding, but not anymore .
(modified) Ack! It still stops responding . I don't know why it worked once, but it sure jammed again now.

When it was first implemented, XMPlay did initially continue playing at the end of a queue, but we decided "who'd want it to do that?"

I couldn't reproduce the problem, so was waiting to see if anyone else would report it.

Anyway... when you say "stopped responding", do you mean permanently or just for a moment? Also, is there a specific (or range of) number of tracks that need to be in the list for the problem to occur?

Place them in the same directory (or sub-directory) as XMPlay.  I find it easier with so many different plugins/skins/vis. to keep them in 3 separate folders, and each separate plugin/skin/vis. in it's own folder.
