it is an amazing free program that shows us the drag and drop song spectrogram.
I think that would be interesting and useful to have some xmplay feature that allow us to add a context menu line called 'Run External Program'  or some like this, and pass to that external program the current song path.

is that possible ?

How about drag'n'dropping playlist entries to spek? First press down the left mouse button on a song, then press the right one while still holding the left, and drag.
