realtime kernel advantage with arm linux ?
« on: 22 Mar '17 - 07:25 »
Has anybody any experience with arm linux with eg. RT Preempt and BASS?
I'm trying to reduce the roundtrip latency (input to output) on a raspberry 3 (CM) using raspbian opsys, alsa and BASS 2.4.12 and am wondering, if adding the RTPreempt patch into the kernel would help.
Does BASS benefit from the HIGH_RES_TIMERS or any other feature of the realtime kernel patch?

Thanks

I'm not familiar with that patch, but BASS will set its output thread(s) to realtime priority/scheduling if allowed (eg. in /etc/security/limits.conf).
