BASS_MIDI_FontSetVolume
« on: 12 Sep '18 - 23:54 »
Before I was using : BASS_MIDI_StreamEvent(_midiStream, i, MIDI_EVENT_MIXLEVEL, 200)

I want to transform it to BASS_MIDI_FontSetVolume

What is the value equivalent of BASS_MIDI_StreamEvent 200 for the float of BASS_MIDI_FontSetVolume

I have tried 2.0  but it seems too much...

The effect of those 2 settings should be identical, ie. both double the level (+6dB). Trying it here just now, that does seem to be the case. Are you sure it isn't there, and if so, how much difference are seeing, eg. if you compare the levels in a sample editor?

By ear, it seems stronger and have more distortion with BASS_MIDI_FontSetVolume while not with BASS_MIDI_StreamEvent(_midiStream, i, MIDI_EVENT_MIXLEVEL, 200)
But probably I am wrong as it is just an impression by ear

or maybe there is a difference if we amplify at channel level or at general soundfont level?

Both of those settings are applied at the same time (when calculating the volume of a note), so there shouldn't be any difference between which setting you use.
