Yes, you can.  To do that, open the file with XMPlay, and for the Output Settings select External - LAME option for device.  Make sure to have LAME (or your own mp3 encoder) in your XMPlay directory.  For more directions on encoding mp3s with XMPlay, visit http://support.xmplay.com

mo3-files are only playable with XMPlay or the BASS-plugin for WinAmp. download XMPlay and open "beyondNetwork.mo3", run it through LAME and voila. you can also use unmo3.exe (http://www.un4seen.com/mo3.html#stuff) to decode it to a regular mod/xm/it/s3m file.

notice that the file you found doesn't have to be a real mo3-file, maybe it's just another way to keep you from listening to the music outside the game.

sounds like you'll have to spread BASS with your game, create a program to decode to wave and encode to mp3... hell lot of a job...
or you can use unmo3 and some mod2mp3 (do they exist?)...
what about xmplay? Grin make it launch with your game and play in background Wink

Oh, no... I don't know how BASS work, and i don't know how to create programs like this. But i can use not only .mp3 - i can use .wav, .ogg, .wma and .mid (but i don't want to use .mid) too!
Unmo3 decode all files to .xm. And what next? I think there is no any xm2mp3 programs...
I hope, you can help me! Please, try to create mo32mp3 (or xm2mp3) program... Cry I will be so happy, if you help me...

No - some music must be in some places. And it must depend of user's actions.

I think the simplest solution would be to use BASS+BASSenc+LAME (or OGGENC for OGG), to go straight from MO3 to MP3 (or OGG) without making a stop at WAV. Take a look at the precompiled CONTEST.EXE example that comes with BASSenc.

I think it is very hard to me... Embarrassed
I will try to do many converts (mo3->xm->wav->mp3) but i stoped at xm->wav step. I download program in archive xm2wav08.zip, but it just don't want to work.
Oh, ok, i think i will try to solve my problem myself... Just forget it...

OR

1. Download XMPlay, extract, run.

2. Open Options and stuff (F9), go to Device and change the device to WAV Writer.

3. Load an MO3 and render the file to disk by pressing play. Do what ever you like with your freshly baked high quality wave file.

Easy, but that's just a recording with unnecessary digital-to-analog and analog-to-digital conversion steps added. Rendering gives you better quality.

EDIT: Oh, I didn't even notice you advised using Winamp and talk about XMs. It just so happens XMPlay plays those files a little bit more accurately, as it does with the other module formats. I just wanted to add the DA/AD note but it really doesn't matter that much if you want to start by playing modules wrong in Winamp.

We don't know what plugin he's using. There is actually a BASS-based plugin for Winamp.

True. I'm just assuming (you know, making an ASS out of U and ME) most people don't feel the need to download extra plugins since the player already handles the format. Something just smells a bit off to me. Like you need to download Audacity but Winamp is just sitting there like it's some kind of a default and everybody is using it (especially people on this here forum). Actually I do currently have WinAmp installed (the first time in years) because I wanted to see if there was a wave plugin bundled that would handle ADPCM encoding AND work with XMPlay. But that seems not to be case. Thanks for reminding me. Smiley *Goes to uninstall*

Am I the only one who is wondering if the *.xm you need to play are somehow related to the wave outputs or not? Or does it output .xm? Undecided
