MO3 vs MP3

Mo3-files have a fine quality of sounds,
they still have quite small size. I wonder
why they still make those large mp3-files ?

Is this mo3-format going to be very usual some day ?
Not a standard but famous with mod/xm/it -files.

If You can see to the future ( with class-ball) .... tell us all.

MP3 to WAVes is MO3 to MODs.

So if you have a really cool mod, you can compress it to MO3, just like you can compress a wave into mp3...  But to convert an mp3 into an mo3, you would have to re-compose the song, which is practically impossible...  But I really hope that MO3 becomes a standard, since it's once of the coolest formats ever created...  Go Ian!  :)

I wonder if this mo3-format is not working with my midi-files.
Normaly I compose a mid-file with my Cubasis VST, then record this as wav-file and compres it to mp3.

This mo3-format might just be working with xm,it,mod,s3m -files ? So it must be a module-music.

Hi,

I think that the best solution would be to use Mid2Xm from this very site, to convert your Midis to XMs, and then MO3 them to have a really small file that sounds really good!  :)

How about that?

I did not mannage to get this mid2xm to work ... source file was in gm (general-midi) format *.mid .... result *xm did not have any samples or instruments  with ... only silence ?

Sure you need to build your own sample library ;)
There are some standard lib's available on the net ...
Anyway, it's quite hard to translate GM-MIDI to XM because XM is sample based and GM is FM-Synth based (basically) --> therefore you have big problems with attacks and delays and so on.
