Topic: Feature request: support mp4 container with opus audio

Hi Ian,
i see from other posts that mp4 with opus audio is currently not supported but i'm receiving some complaints by my users because mp4 files with opus audio are becoming popular, I sent to your ftp the file audioopus.mp4 that a user sent to me.

i also tried to play it via mediafoundation without success (the file however play fine on common players vlc mpc mpv etc)

i hope you can do something magic and add suport for it in the future

I do hope to eventually have a BASSMP4 add-on to support all/most the various audio codecs that can be in an MP4 container (not just AAC and ALAC), like what the BASSWEBM add-on does for the WebM/Matroska container. But I can't say when that might be available. It may be simpler/quicker to add support for Opus MP4 specifically in BASSOPUS, so perhaps that could be done first and then the new MP4 code extracted and expanded into a BASSMP4 add-on. I'll look into it.
