use system midi mapper as midi output
« on: 26 Dec '24 - 17:37 »
hi, newcomer here

i am using xmplay on windows 10 as default music player, and I LOVE IT ... but...

... would like to use system midi mapper (provided by VirtualMidiSynth) to play midi files, and use as central point to configure system-wide midi playback

currently is a big annoyance to have 2+ programs to playback/config midi files/devices separately in different situations, would be great if xmplay have the OPTION to integrate into system midi, as current midi plugin doesnt have it, so you could enable it if you want or leave if dont

thanks

The issue is that XMPlay expects plugins to provide sample data for playback, which won't happen when using a MIDI device. I suppose the MIDI plugin could just give silent data then. A similar but more applicable option could be VSTi support. I hope to look into that at some point.
