CD Audio plugin update?
« on: 20 Jan '25 - 23:04 »
XMPlay is now saying there's an update to the CD audio plugin, version 1.12. I don't see it anywhere on the site, but the version of xmp-cd.dll I have is listed as "12". Is this a mistake in the update check or is there an update that hasn't been made available for download yet?

The CD plugin (XMP-CD.DLL) is included in the main XMPlay package. The XMPlay 4.0.0.1 update was made the release version yesterday (fixes a few bugs), and at the same time, I took the opportunity to update the CD plugin's version number from 1.0.12 to 1.12, to match the versioning scheme of other recent plugin updates. People that were using 4.0 (or older) would have got XMPlay and CD plugin update notifications at the same time, but those that were already using 4.0.0.1 (or an even newer update) would have only got the CD plugin notification. Besides the version number, there was no change in the CD plugin, so there's no real need to upgrade and I've now disabled that update notification to avoid any confusion about where to get it from.

Hi, friends. I downloaded the last version of the software in my Windows 10, but Windows Defender has reported a virus inside the zip and blocked it. What's the problem? Thanks.

Anti-virus business nowadays is largely a scam monopoly business, they use fear to make people trust their decision on what's bad for you and what's not... So of course, anything that hasn't been officially approved by them is marked as harmful or suspicious.

Windows Defender did initially complain about the XMPlay 4.0 release, but I think that stopped after a few days. It doesn't seem to be complaining about 4.0.0.1 right now, at least not here. Is it still complaining for you even with the latest "security intelligence" definitions? You could also try the 4.0.0.4 update (available at the bottom of the XMPlay webpage).
