just being beauty turds for the screen (The very best Visualizer?)

Hi all

Like I think most Visualizer plugins are terrible and just some colorful nonsense. What I want is something where I get information from looking at it. I was looking into Mod music, and found this player and tried out the Visualizer, ohhh it is so good! I think it has to be one of the most awesome ones I have ever seen operating even when it is not really much graphical about it.

Find it at https://chiptune.app and activate it in the top right corner. Like it has the Piano notes and what is playing, you can literally see what is going on while the music is playing. I was thinking you could make a past and present and future to further expand it. But anyway, whatever the case we are in the right direction. Only thing I would like was the octave 1,2,3,4,5,6,7 on the piano... shown as well - but anyway. Although it should be possible, but really, even with these kinda old school colors and all - it is absolutely amazing to just look at. Oh by the way, the settings I am talking about: Visualizer on > Constant Q > Weighting None > whatever speed!

I was looking around the internet for things, and also trying your player, having +100 Vizualizer plugins i see, I was wondering what the best thing was, you have something of that kind I am looking for in your player, but it could be better, it is called Spectrum (3D) yet still lags some kind of notes or wave vibration numbers showing - or some nice cool animation like Chiptune, you gotta see it, it is so cool! And could surely be further beautifide for awesomeness.

Further I was looking in Foobar2000 on plugin stuff and found some images of piano sorta thing, I also found some kind of old Wave thing from days of old, and a open source demo for music and this new App to look into music in the direction I wanna see the Vizualizer plugins.... I'll see if I can find the information for you. Like it is hard to believe we had so many people making Vizualizers since the good old Winamp days and yet see most of it just being beauty turds for the screen.

By the way, while recalling it, getting old here - would be nice with the good old Winamp theme that I am using for your XMplay at the moment and probably other things of your application to be able to show the Playlist and the Visualizer at the same time in 2 different windows. it seems you use the same window at the moment which kinda confuses me. As far as I recall you could have 2 windows in Winamp, one for playlist and one for the Vizualizer at the same time.

Anyway - do something wonderful exist for XMplay of Vizualizer beside the Spectrum (3D) that does wonders for the eyes and the music to understand both by hearing and eyes?

Okay the data is on my other computer, one app is called sndpeek, a real-time audio visualization - it seems educated geeks having been doing things with it, but I don't think it was ever made into a nice Plugin - but the code is open source. Here is the link and a picture although it does not do it justice: https://soundlab.cs.princeton.edu/software/sndpeek/
and something called rt_lpc seems to be something of the same, old but open source.

Okay next on the line, lets see.... Something called Vision 4X, that is said to be the best Audio Analyzer ever..... Maybe.... But it does have some of the things that I was looking for in standard music plugins. Found the Youtube video I have on the other computer: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=aDsyk7DmdKQ oh I also have the original webpage where there is some show offs as well, https://www.excite-audio.com/vision "See Your Sound".

Anyone made a Zip file with the last XMplayer with all the plugins and such..... Could be kinda make it easier as well if you, like a big full package with everything :P

Anyway, lets see if this will post.

Thanks for reading

By the way, the Chip Player is also open source, so I guess, maybe one of the l33t programmers could "easily" take the plugin out and get it working on XMplayer - like one of the things that is sad is that it is so small on my screen. Like it would be awesome to have it a lot bigger, to see the past played music while the NOW music is fired at the Piano notes.

And I was thinking a 3D thing could also be made with the future reading coming from top right as well, and the NOW being played up into the piano and the past moving by to the down left. Could be pretty cool I think with colors and all.

But anyway...... Even with what is on the Chiptune Vizualizer, it is still so call to follow the melody with your eyes, and have some idea what is going on. Try it out.

And if anyone likes it as much as me and have some programming skills.... Well, I think it is open source and straight for the taking :)

Should make an user account - but nice to see the option for posting as guest!

Just got sndpeek working with some Wav files on Windows 7 - I don't think it is as cool as the Chiptune - but it is in the right direction. It seems the brownish audio info is future, lightblue is the thing that plays and the green that has been played. So Future, Present and Past.
Then you have this Yellow weird crucidull and some violet line of vibration as well
Now you don't have the keyboard octave line showing, and not sure if I can make it show the Hz over the line to know what is what on that level - I have not toyed around with all the options so much, just seeing it working on my computer.
It is a little to fast as it is at the moment to be able to really follow along - but overall in the right direction.

But still, why did no one kinda make some Visualizer out of it or something of its kind.

Like if the future and the past was flattened sorta, and then the present burning up in the piano octaves, could be pretty useful and cool to see - and not just eyecandy turd - but actually have some usefulness.

I further have collected and written data here on the subject. A good amount of information. Found some interesting stuff, hopefully it can give some of the programmers some ideas. That is the point - I'm not a programmer just a man with lots of ideas and pointers.

And of cause if anyone knows of any better then the XMplayer Spectragram 3D or whatever it was called - then I would like to hear about it.
Anyway.... I have a good amount of further testing tomorrow - but I think I hit the top of the mountain of things now.

I am live here with one neat Visualizer! :) Found a way to kinda hack it with a longer length Spectrogram:
