I thinked and understand what in your  XMPlay need to be reworked  methods color select , now this done like

I'm think what this overal not logicaly , I offer do as this make in Microsoft Paint and in similar application , I mean what remove sliders hue and  and saturation , and instead of this simply add values R G B , and all , if this add , will very easy set color to skins )

In current model HS , inposible  recive skin tone 20/20/20 or 230/230/230 . I mean what inposible recive very light or very dark skin )

Ian . why you ignored this problem ?
In Windsows 10 with black theme very not comfortably , because in default mode without another skins I can not stylize XMPlay as Windows 10... in Windows 7 this promblem absent because in Windows 7 absetn pure black theme )

I don't think applying an RGB change to an entire skin will work how you want. For example, applying RGB=000 will make everything black, so no controls/etc are visible. If you want some parts to be black then you will need to modify those parts in the skin's bitmaps.

But you can this fix )
For this need do invert values ) for example if main skin color RGB 0/0/0 , then color buttons and elements 255/255/255 , this logicaly ) make skin fully black not available sense ) , also , for text you can add option font color and elements color ) for example :
Main skin color RGB 20/20/20 values user configurable
Skin Elements color RGB 120/120/120 values user configurable
Skin Font color RGB 80/80/80 values user configurable

Skins don't have defined "main" + "element" + "font" colours, so nothing for XMPlay to adjust there. Skins can pretty much use whatever colours they want, wherever they want.

As I understand , you use HSL model , but now available only HS model without L , and because we can not make skin black with white elements and fonts or white with black elements and fonts , right ?
Now I'm only talking about the default skin

Why I talking about default skin , because I did tests and I see waht in skins whitch available something is missing , there are absent button  Stop , there are absent slider Reverb cutoff , and that's why I want tune default skin from XMPlay 4.0 , but this skin absent for modify )
And all I can do , this regulate values hue and saturation

If you not want modify program code , please , share default skin as xmpskin format for example as Midnight skin , then I on one's own do colorize this skin as want )

The XMPlay 4 default skin files aren't currently available, but if you want something similar with a black theme then you could try the Innocuous skin:

But on this skin absent Equalizer and Reverberation settings ,That's why I sayd to you what need create modifed default skin colors ) aoveral custom skins for XMPlay not fully include all elements default screen
