I will like to have the buffer time increase like to 30 seconds or 1 minute, I'm using Xmplay with a DSL conection to listen radios on internet, but they sometime cut too much, because of network congestion or wherever, and increasing the buffer will solve this problem.
Is there anyway to do this?
thanks

If you need a 30s buffer then you're probably using too high a bitrate in the first place. Try dropping it down to 128, 96 or 64 Kb/s.

I can not control the bitrate the radio station is sending, but anyway it is only at 24kbps.
I'm also use QCD, and it has no limit for the buffer size. I don't mind the delay, as long as it doesn't get cut out everytime there is some internet congestion and it has to rebuffer.

DSL connection + 24kpbs stream should not equal buffer underrun.

Seriously, increasing the buffer will jsut mean that the delay is longer should the buffer be emptied. I myself have played 300+kbps streams with a 5 second buffer with no problems, so a longer buffer probably won't help. Besides, the buffer control in XMPlay (IIRC) only controls the final buffer (basically, the one that the sound card uses). I don't know how XMPly manages buffering for streams.

I don't know what kind of a connection can't handle a 24kbps stream. I wouldn't think it's about the buffer.. perhaps something is killing your connection once in a while? What is your connection type exactly?

The problem is not with my conection, the problem is that sometimes the server for the radio I listen to is congested, and it is slow, so it get cut out because the buffer is empty and has to rebuffer, this problem is solve with a biger buffer size, as I can prove it when I use Winamp or QCD, I use a buffer of 256kb and it never cut out.
As you can see is not because of a slow conection on my side, but to avoid get cut out when the internet is congested, or the server the radio is using reach it's full capacity.

in the Options, under the Misc tab, do you have the "Restrict download rate" box checked? If so, remove it and try again...
