Unless Tsorovan happens to sell fruitcakes, I'd say "Mr Fruitcake" is intended as an insult.

You don't have to agree with everyone or everything, but there's no need for insults. This forum is for light-hearted discussion, let's keep it that way Smiley

So, congrats to RipGuy! and all others competitors..

Thanxs also Ian to let xmp's users tell about the skin they love - or not. That's so rare Wink

I hope that all skins will be released, and many others in future; after all, that's just a "bonus" vote for the default skin, not for the one and the only one you can use. The most important thing stay xmp 3.0; not his appearance but main program......

And.. xmplay is also the greatest mod player with his first vintage skin, so.. Wink

no?

cheers & thanxs all.

Jesus monkey tits with all the soap opera jazz around these parts. Lets get back to what's important:

Huge Congrats to Ripguy!

While I think everyone, originality notwithstanding, did great work I had to go with Ripguy's production. Personally, I would have made something much less like the 2.0 skin, but now I'm thinking that's not what's needed. Ripguy's roughly-similar mildly-update-ish kick-in-the-ass-with-a-new-dash-of-style skin is what should rightfully take the cake.

While I wish the shading/highlights were a little less photoshopeffectsy and tighter/more realistic, there's just too much else going for it that puts it ahead. It's clean, it's well sized, it's easily readable, it isn't too busy, it isn't gaudy, it isn't hypersupermegaminimalist and it promotes instant recognition of features for new users.

Awesome work. Now I just cant wait to use the thing. =]

Due to this leadership of Ripguy we should have xmplay 3.0 already.
So let's finalize our votings.

I guess you get something wrong here sml.
The origin layout idea is coming from the offlimits player.
But I didn't use one pixel from it.

Place both about each other in an image tool of your choice and then come back and say sorry for proclamating a rip.

It also has been said before the voting started, so that is no news.
It was up to Ian to show you the content of our xmpskin.txt files or not.

I know it isn't a complete rip pixel by pixel. I have only said that you have made a skin mainly based on the interface of ofFlimitS and you DIDN'T notice it to the people who were going to vote.
I can trust that you put the inspiration/original design in the .txt and you didn't want to use others' work for your profit, but in this situation for me this was a rip.

On the another hand, we at fuzzion and threepixels didn't receive any permision request, but it doesn't matter to us if people use our work with credits/references.

That's my last post, perhaps i'm not right, but this is my opinion. I only wanted to show the origin of the design.

OMG, these skins belong to those which look nice but are completely unusable for the same reason.

...but I still hate the default XP look Smiley
Did you know that Microsoft removed the Luna GUI (Luna is the codename for the XP look) from Windows 2003? Apparently it uses a lot more resources than the standard look (suprise, suprise!) and therefore isn't approiate for a core server.

SirDan, Tsorovan, Philippe: Truce? Either that or start a "Flame War" topic. I'll be there with my flamethrower if you want Grin Cool

I don't think you ripped it. I'd rather say you "borrowed" the design. But I think it would have been nicer if you had mentioned that from the start and not just when somebody discovered the "coincidence".  Lips Sealed

Hmmm, blue Grin

I like the "ao-iro" color scheme... Blue is a rather calm color and so am I (most of the time). The "daku gurin" ("Dark Green"?) version is too dark for my taste, but looks good nevertheless.

Surely you didn't come here just to insult the very community to whom you are trying to market? Also, those skins are a perfect example of what would be "too busy" for XMPlay.

Of course, it would be interesting to see what 883 could do for XMPlay...

@Dan
Is it possible to make dark skin version with larger font (e.g. 1.5x)?
