Does anyone know if the Bass is sensitive to what version of directX there is on the computer?

I have problems that are very annoying..when I play mp3's it sounds like there is a skratch on the record (the songs "hops" when in playback). I have tested the songs in WinAmp and JetAudio and in those programs it works just fine.

As of this moment I have tried almost everything to make it disapear, I have downloaded the updated versios of bass...I have changed the OS from XP to W2K...nothing works...

Hope there is someone out there who can help me out of this one.

PS
A friend of mine wrote this proram, I can absolutly nothing about programming

MP3 playback has nothing to do with DirectX, as BASS does not use DirectX for decoding MPEG Audio.

It looks unlikely to be a DirectX problem. Please upload one of the troublesome files to have look at...

Strange, the MP3 file plays fine here. Are you using the latest BASS? Try redownloading, and playing the file in one of the precompiled examples.

If you still have the problem then, do you also have the problem with other filetypes, eg. WAV or OGG? Also, what soundcard/drivers are you using, and are you able to check on another system?

I have tried some other samples...even other mp3 files but I still have the problem in the program that I use. I will try it on some of the precompiled examples to see if it is still the same problem. I shall also try with other types of media formats and see if the problem occurs the same way.

The soundcard I use is ALi soundcard with drivers to that. I also use an external soundcard (soundblaster mp3+) but it does not matter wich I use, the problem occurs on them both. Can the fact that I use an IBM R30 laptop make this problem?

Thanx for the time and help you are giving me in solving this problem.
