Noob,

but that is just a limitation of your app.
I mean it is possible to dynamically load bass_acc.dll and make use of it only when required.
E.g. you might build a kind of global assembly cache in which you dynamically load DLLs. Now:
1) determine the extension of a file
2) each extension can be logically bound to one of the add-on dlls (e.g. mp4 and acc)
3) before you call BASS_xyz_StreamCreateFile(...) make sure your assembly is loaded
4) if not loaded already in your GAC, then load the dll
5) if it fails to load, throw an error

another more easy way would be:
a) scan you application dir. and check weather the bass_acc.dll is present
b) if not present, skip using any acc methods
c) if present load that dll and allow using acc in your app

In any case...such plugin system...needs to be developded by your app.
I guess there are loads of frameworks existing which explain how to build a plugin system.

But you are right, you should not hardly link bass_acc.dll with your app - otherwise your app should be (just to be save) a GPL'd one.

Bass_aac.dll crashes when loading this file

I'm using the pre compiled file!
bin\plugins.exe

I get the error reporting window when playing that file

The issue with that file isn't actually the AAC-LC audio data, but rather the MPEG-DASH container. Unfortunately, MPEG-DASH isn't currently supported.

Perhaps it is time to look in this direction.

"DASH Dynamic Adaptive Streaming over HTTP. Standard DASH ISO/IEC 23009-1:2012 was developed by the group (MPEG) in 2011"
