unit
bass_AAC;

chan := BASS_AAC_StreamCreate(PChar(C:\file.m4a),0);

makes an error as soon as I compile it  ???

The function name to stream MP4/M4A files is BASS_MP4_StreamCreateFile. BASS_AAC_StreamCreateFile should be used on unwrapped AAC streams.

what does that mean unwrapped AAC??
does it support Itunes as well?

Unwrapped AAC streams = AAC files.

Yes, it should support iTunes.

As Sebastian stated, ISO 13818-7 AAC files are not wrapped into an MP4 container.

As for iTunes... The add-on should support decoding of AAC, MP4 and M4A audio files (additionally, MP4 and M4V video files are supported, although only the audio part). DRM is not supported AFAIK.

I have problem :( (read above)

Compile your app without bass_aac.dll (and all other add-ons) in the dir!!
you will get a bug like bass_aac.dll not found.
then copy the dll files to the dir and and start your app.

or you need a debug version of the files

I don't get this error message! The compile/build goes fine, the program just wont start, if I run it inside Delphi. :'(
I have to comment out all the lines that depends on these .dlls. But this way I can't debug the part where they are in use. :(

Yeah, I have the same problem as I said :)

The compile does not find any bugs, but as soon as the program starts it will crash...

Thanks for all the positive comments. :)

BASS_AAC for BASS 2.1 is currently in beta stage, and has some minor bugs, which is the main reason why it hasn't been released yet. Regarding my other add-ons, they will probably be released shortly as they are also in beta stage.

I am not sure what you mean with "normal version", but I guess you mean a debug version. A debug version of any add-on that I have made can be obtained upon request (which is made by e-mail).

Ok..  So the bass.dll which can be dl-ed from here is a debug version, becouse it works uppon debuging.

BASS_AAC has been updated to work with BASS 2.1. However, please bear in mind that BASS_AAC has a minor bug; it cannot loop AAC RAW files. This probably won't be an issue for most of you, since AAC RAW files are not often used.

Edit 1: Debugging should also work now.

Due to a server change, I cannot guarantee how long the MaresWEB mirror will be online. Please consider trying one of the other two if queries to my server fail.

BASS_AAC is a BASS add-on which enables playback of AAC, MP4 and M4A files.
It would be great if you add M4B as a possible file extension, too (see the Wiki page where you quoted these explanations from). Since M4B files are the same as M4A, this should be rather easy.

Am I right that your application enables direct AAC/MP4 support in the next XMPlay version without using in_mp4.dll  from Audiocoding.com? When will this be released, or is it available already, and I have missed it?

Hi!

It would be great if you add M4B as a possible file extension, too (see the Wiki page where you quoted these explanations from). Since M4B files are the same as M4A, this should be rather easy.

Use BASS_MP4_StreamCreateFile to open M4B files.

Am I right that your application enables direct AAC/MP4 support in the next XMPlay version without using in_mp4.dll  from Audiocoding.com? When will this be released, or is it available already, and I have missed it?

You might want to ask Ian if he wants to implement native MP4 support to XMPlay, but I doubt he will due to licence fees.

why are your add-ons file size bigger then Ian's add-ons
bass_aac.dll 164k
bass_wma.dll 48k

wich compressor do you use?

I am using UPX to compress my add-ons. The reason why BASS_AAC is much larger than BASSWMA is because BASS_AAC contains and is based on libFAAD2 which is a library to decode AAC data. BASSWMA on the other hand, uses the Windows Media Format modules which are available on most Windows platforms today.

Are you using the function for creating AAC streams or MP4 streams?
