XMPlay APE plugin

Sebastian Andersson finished a Monkey's Audio input plugin for XMPlay which is available here:

     www.un4seen.com/filez/2/xmp-ape.zip

It should support all the usual stuff like playing, pausing, seeking, ReplayGain, tags... but currently lacks the streaming support. Please report any bugs and issues in this thread.

Right here, mon! (rushes breathlessly in through the door)

I've never heard of any sites streaming ape though...

Yey cool, Sebastian Anderson has begun to develop XMPlay plugins :D

Keep up the good work! :D

All sounds golden thus far but I have noticed one thing - there is no configurability a la the old Winamp flavor.  Will there ever be?  The FLAC plugin isn't configurable either...

Please don't think I'm looking a gift horse in the mouth.  This is a HUGE boon - swiftly developed plugins that actually work (this compared to other players).  I was just curious.

Thank you very much for a good, solid effort - it is vastly appreciated.

Brian

Presumably this relates to what Ian was telling us about the new native plugin architecture - you do all the configuring for the player across the board, and it is then applied to all native plugins.

OK, but the Winamp ape plugin for example has a facility to relax decoding strictures so that the player will not stop when it encounteres an error in the file.  It's not a big deal - personally I just delete ape files that fall into that category.

In any event, I'm now a very happy guy. :)

I am glad you like it. :)

Just discover XMPlay today. Trying to use this plug in to play Ape files, but XMPlay crashes eveytime I try to load an Ape file. I get the "xmplay.exe has encountered a problem and needs to close" message.

Tsorovan

Did you delete/rename in_ape.dll (if you had one) prior to starting XMPlay?

Same thing happens here - crash in xmp-ape.dll while scanning added APE files (yupp, I don't even have to play them - adding to the playlist is enough).  I don't have in_ape.dll installed.

Foobar plays the files fine, so they aren't corrupted or something.

I can't see a way to play APL files using this plugin.

I'm sure it's just me overlooking a simple thing at 4 AM...

APL files aren't really APE files - they are "links". Maybe Seb can add support for them in a future version - shouldn't be so hard.

That would be excellent.
I always rip as a single file and use APLs to play individual tracks.

OK boys and girls, the new version is up and running. Seb added support for APL files and also fixed the bug which made xmp-ape crash. Have fun!

Hmm, damn... Something seems to be wrong with the server and the file didn't got updated. It has been boy-loving the whole day. I will investigate the problem.

It seems that it got updated (the new one is packed with PEtite, prevous one wasn't).
If so - the crashbug is still there. Funny thing though - playing the file in XMPlay (ie drag'n dropping it to the main window) is fine. But adding it to the playlist (drag'n dropping it to the ext. playlist windows) - crash boom bang.

APL files are not listed/playable here.
The file I have is xmp-ape.dll 32.3 kb 22 Feb 20:58:24

Sebastian_Mares

It's the gay server folks. The file was not updated on the server. I hope Seb reads this soon and re-uploads the ZIP.

Sebastian Andersson

OK, I have uploaded the updated file, and yes, it is compressed using Petite.

Ok, that is the one I downloaded earlier today.

No APL support in it on my system.

Supported file formats- APE

Drag/Drop an APL, nothing.

Yupp, the same one I've downloaded yesterday. Still crashes in situations mentioned above.
