Any chance of a new version of this plugin which incorporates the Antti Lankila distortion hack (currently in Sidplay2.5/W)?
Is it good enough now?

Uh, wel.. uhm.. you know, we're talking about Commodore64 music, here. Good is such a subjective term. With this sort of music, static, hiss, buzzes, pops and crackles - all of that is often considered by people to make the music "better". I dunno. It's something different. You've got an excellent plugin - I'm no purist (and I won't become one until the price of a Hardsid4U drops below that of a Porsche Boxster) and I enjoy listening to SIDs on it far more than on the standalone players, so all I'm after is new/different features to jazz it up a little. Up to you.

PS: A foobar2000 plugin would absolutely make my day. *8-)

Long time no see, thread. Grin

But, to the point. I'm getting crashes with xmp-sid.dll rev .25d (most recent at time of posting) on XMP 3.5.0.6 (ditto) when 'Enable Groovy Sound' is checked and XMP's crossfading is enabled. The other SID settings don't seem to make a difference. If crossfading is set to 0 seconds, no crash.

Also tried with only xmplay.exe and xmp-sid.dll in a dir, still happens.

Is there somewhere I can get 3.5.0.6? Looked around for it, couldn't find it. My version of XMplay shows 3.5.

You can obtain the latest work-in-progress release using this link: http://www.un4seen.com/stuff/xmplay.exe

Revision 26 of the SID plugin has been released.
 - fixed crash in surround player when XMPlay requested small data blocks (seems to happen with ASIO output or crossfading)
 - added .rsid extension to the list

I wish there was an easier way to access SIDs inside the HVSC archive.  I don't want a billion tiny, separate files scattered all over my hard drive.  WinRAR takes forever to find and extract a single file.

SmartOne, I guess you have compressed the archive with the "solid" option turned on? It's no wonder that it takes forever then.

The default HVSC rar archive is indeed a solid archive. Solid rars are designed to be extracted completely, so extracting a single file requires decompressing every file in front of it. There's a zip version of the HVSC on their site as well, that should be a bit faster.

There should be no problem with playing SID's directly from the ZIP (SLDB and STIL features included).

Okay, so you need to extract C64Music.zip from HVSC_52-all-of-them.zip.  Then you need to use WinRAR (or something) as your HVSC "playlist window" because Explorer is still freakin' slow to process C64Music.zip.

I have the HVSC_52-all-of-them folder containing C64Music.zip and DOCUMENTS.  The paths point to the correct folders.  STIL is enabled, but where can I read the information?

And what if you just add C64Music.zip to your playlist? As Fraggie says, XMPlay can play the files right from the zip if you use the zip plugin.

If the song has an entry in STIL, it'll show up in the message tab below Title, Artist and Released. But I can't verify your setup because my HVSC is all extracted and simple.

To have STIL with zipped HVSC you also need to enable SLDB (the plugin will use MD5 to locate the entry in STIL) and tick the apropriate option.

And the DOCUMENTS folder needs to be decompressed of course.

C64Music.zip contains 37,801 SIDs (or "tunes...").  Wouldn't dragging that into the playlist window, like, kill everything?

Could you give an example SID with some good STIL info?

I see Title, Artist, and Released.  I thought some SIDs had nice little stories/comments.

Those three come from the actual SID file but apparently you are not seeing the nice little story that comes from STIL. :/
