Some nice changes/additions to the new revision, especially filtering. But is it just me or has seek time taken a major hit? Now it takes about 15 seconds to seek to halfway through Lightforce, whereas before it was super quick. Bug?

Dhry

Edit: Just read previous posts and now know the reason. Going to have to go back to a previous version, unfortunately I need seek speed over filter distortion.

Plugin doesn't play Xmas_Chortles_Hello_Kenz.sid
I can't find a quick solution to this... I will have to review the changes to libsidplay as this was playing fine in v26. That'll take some time...

What's weird in particular? I compared rev.28 against sidplay2/w Feb 22 2009 and it seems to sound pretty much the same.  (Nice music btw!)

Time-based seeking in rev.28 does not work  :(
Compared with rev.26 to rev.28 tune C64Music \ MUSICIANS \ Laxity \ Alibi.sid played really different (I like to rev.26, as it is brighter, sharper). I understand SaxxonPike_ the same mean.

Works here - did you actually enable seeking in the plugin settings?

You're complaining about filters, right? Try another SID revision or disable SID filters completely if it's the crispy playsid sound you're after.

Yes indeed! It was in the filters. When I turn off the filter tune was played correctly.

Some SIDs from HVSC #55 aren't played, eg:
\Rayden\Somewhere_Over_The_6_Rainbows_2SID.sid

Heh, I guess everyone's filters just sound different :) I believe that Sevenfunk track was probably released before I had a real 64 to test it on, but I will definitely load it up on the breadbox and find out myself. Thanks for pointing that out.

Yup, that's the... beauty of analogue parts.

The 6581 revision selection is currently broken and fixed to R4 3789 (very late production). To be corrected in the next release.

\Rayden\Somewhere_Over_The_6_Rainbows_2SID.sid
Shoot, HVSC changed the file PSID file version for 2SID stereo tunes. I wasn't aware of that. To be corrected too.

rev. 26 has sharper sound than rev. 28. I set the pan separation to 0% and disabled the surround sound. this way it sounds closer to the original c64.

If you want mono, then simply switch Channels to Original. You'll save some CPU power as well. :)

Instead of disabling filters completely try the SID revisions now (3984 and 0486S are lighter then the default).

Hi, It's been a while, but I'm coming back to XmPlay... almost. From foobar2000. Winamp is long-gone in my book. :)

Point is, great work on the sid plugin, loving filter distortion, and 2SID support. However, just one little bug with combined waveforms in 6581 mode. The bug is most noticeable with /MUSICIANS/A/AMJ/Pashaus.sid. While the waveforms sound like the 6581, the 8580 response is evident. Comparing with sidplay2/w, or rev. 26 of the plugin. IE, anything resid-based, not residFP-based.
Speaking of residFP, which version of the lib are you using? There's a 0.2 beta out, perhaps that might fix the waveform problems?

The current working tree has VICE 2.3 residfp code (pretty much the same as libsidplayfp-0.2beta) however all problems are still there.  :-\

Hi, I'm the current maintainer of libsidplayfp since Antti Lankila left the project in favor of the java port and incidentally I had an account here at un4seen forums  ;D
I've been reported of the issues with some tunes using samples and backported a bunch of changes from the java code which seems to fix the problems.
I'm planning an RC release soon, meanwhile the code is in svn if you want to check. And please report any issue you find.

It's a bug in libsidplayfp, will be fixed in next release.
Thanks for reporting  ;)

Rev.30 is now available.

Changes since rev.29:
 * Upgraded to libsidplayfp v0.3.1
 * Added filter fine-tuning
 * Removed individual channel muting
 * Bugs fixed:
    - all known compatibility issues fixed
    - PSIDv3/RSID header rejecting (Banditti_2SID.sid)

Thanks to the new libsidplayfp engine, this plugin version fixes all known compatibility/emulation issues. Also the filter strength can now be fine-tuned to, hopefully, match your taste (...or to what you remember from the C64 days :) ).

It's a major change in the emulation, so please let me know of any quirks introduced.

Thanks for the update.
It seems like the plugin crashes when reloading HVSC information while playing a SID tune. Reloading while no tune is playing seems to work as intended.
